The Opportunity

Forensic Technology Solutions (FTS) is a sub-service line within the Forensic practice of PwC Romania. The technical specialists within FTS deal with two parallel tiers: (i) capturing, consolidating and interrogating massive volumes of structured data (e.g., financial systems) and unstructured data (e.g., emails and user documents) in order to assist our clients navigate through a fraud-related crisis and (ii) analysis of the financial crime operating models from a technical perspective in financial institutions and identification of areas for improvement.

We are a Forensic and Financial Crime Technology Team providing regulatory and technological advice to a variety of local and international clients. Within our team, we solve the business and technology problems our clients face. This covers a broad range of topics, from data collection, processing and review and digital forensics to application of regulatory requirements into practice, fine tuning of IT systems, assessing data quality to performing advanced analytics.
Are you ready to take on the challenge as a Forensic and Financial Crime Data Analyst?
What you will be doing:
You will work on real client projects, focusing on supporting banks, regulatory bodies and clients from various industries to identify, stop and prevent money laundering, fraud or other financial and white collar crimes;
You will be involved in both tiers of our team:
Electronic discovery, digital forensics and forensic data analytics on a variety of cases, which imply imaging suspect's computers, recovering deleted files, extracting relevant documents from the images using various forensically sound tools, with a view to further analyze the information contained within the forensic image, to substantiate in relation to different scenarios, in line with the allegations raised case by case and
Analysis of the current set up of financial crime operating models in financial institutions and identification of points for improvement.
You will help in preparing working papers, schedules and reports that will be delivered and presented to our clients and other parties;
Understand and follow workplace policies and procedures;
Data Analysis operations include working with relational databases, analytical and statistical packages / tools - such as SQL Server, Alteryx, and PowerBI, and also using programming languages such as Python, Javascript and R to analyze data in support of investigations, litigations and other engagements;
Maintain an efficient, innovative and team-oriented environment. Contribute to the growth of the practice by supporting executives on sales pursuits, providing informal and formal training to staff, and innovating current processes;
Develop and maintain productive working relationships with client personnel;
Build strong internal relationships with other service lines;
Contribute to people initiatives, including training activities;
Maintain an educational program to continually develop personal skills.
What we need from you:
University degree with the background in information technology, mathematics or other related technical discipline with the mixture of economics;
At least basic knowledge of programming languages such as SQL, R or Python (or any data manipulation language);
At least basic IT administration knowledge as well as computer hardware and network knowledge;
Knowledge of virtualization software, such as but not limited to VMWare, OracleVM is a plus
Willingness to learn, take initiative and try new things;
Strong communication and prioritization skills;
Strong teamwork skill;
Good command of spoken and written English;
Knowledge of banking and banking environment is a plus;
Intermediate to advanced German knowledge is a plus;
Previous experience in digital forensics, anti-financial crime or compliance is a benefit;
Openness to travel;
