About the Role  

The Senior Legal Counsel role is part of an integrated global legal team contributing to the growth and success of Springer Nature both regionally and globally. Reporting to the Vice President Corporate Legal & Group Company Secretary, this role provides internal legal support of all Corporate Legal Matters globally within Springer Nature and for the Group Company Secretary. 

Role Responsibilities  

• Play an integral role in working in the General Counsel’s Office within the Corporate Legal & Group Company Secretariat team in Berlin, Germany. 

• Advise the business in Corporate Law matters, especially with a focus on capital market matters 

• Advise in and proactively manage corporate transactional matters for Springer Nature, including finance transactions, international Mergers & Acquisitions & disposals, legal restructurings 

• Be an active and impactful member of the General Counsel’s Office and work in a coordinated and collaborative manner to contribute to success of the General Counsel’s Office and of Springer Nature globally 

• Coordinate with global colleagues/stakeholders, both within and outside the General Counsel’s Office 

• Manage External Lawyers 

Experience, Skills & Qualifications: 

• Volljurist*in with extensive professional experience 

• German Corporate law experience including capital market law required. 

• Experience with corporate files as well as with general contract law 

• English Language required (Business Fluency). Other languages desirable. 

• The ability to foster alignment and influence decision making 

• Strong legal research, analysis and drafting skills 

• Sound and practical business judgment 

• The ability to provide clear, accurate and consistent advice 

• High degree of autonomy and responsibility for relevant areas of responsibility 

• Strong technical legal skills 

• Efficient, rigorous, well-organized with good attention to detail and persistence in problem solving 

• Self-motivated, proactive work approach and a true team player 

• Excellent communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills with an open, direct communication style and willingness to engage in a constructive debate 

• Willingness to take on multiple responsibilities and the ability to multi-task and work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment 

• Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions and implement appropriate solutions after alignment with internal stakeholders 

• High level of integrity and strong professional ethics
