Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Senior Manager - Engineering to lead our engineering team in developing and integrating advanced camera-based tracking technologies. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in engineering management, a passion for mentoring and developing talent, and a proven track record in designing and optimizing operational pipelines. This role involves overseeing a team of highly motivated engineers, managing equipment maintenance, and ensuring effective budgeting and financial oversight.


Responsibilities

Leadership and Team Management

  • Team Development: Providing strategic direction and leadership to a team of highly skilled engineers. Cultivating a work environment that promotes collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement. Leading by example, demonstrating high standards of professionalism and technical expertise.
  • Mentoring and Coaching: Actively mentoring and supporting team members to enhance their technical skills and career development. Facilitate regular training sessions, workshops, and knowledge-sharing activities to keep the team updated with the latest industry trends and technologies.
  • Performance Management: Conducting regular performance reviews, set individual and team goals, and provide constructive feedback. Addressing performance issues promptly and developing action plans for improvement.


Design, Development, and Integration

  • Pipeline Design: Leading the design and development of advanced operational pipelines for camera-based tracking technologies. Ensuring these pipelines are scalable, efficient, and meet the high standards required for live broadcast environments.
  • Integration: Overseeing the integration of tracking technologies with existing broadcast systems, ensuring seamless operation and minimal disruption to live broadcasts. Collaborating with other departments to align engineering solutions with broader company objectives.
  • Technology Development: Driving innovation in technology development by exploring new methodologies, tools, and approaches that enhance tracking accuracy and operational efficiency.


Workflow Optimization

  • Process Improvement: Analyzing current workflows and processes to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement. Developing and implementing optimized workflows to streamline operations, reduce turnaround times, and enhance overall productivity.
  • Standardization: Establishing and enforcing best practices and standardized procedures for engineering operations. Ensuring that these standards are consistently applied across all projects and tasks.


Equipment Maintenance and Management

  • Maintenance Scheduling: Developing and managing a maintenance schedule for all engineering equipment, including cameras, tracking systems, and other critical hardware. Ensuring that all equipment is maintained to high standards to minimize downtime and operational disruptions.
  • Troubleshooting: Overseeing the troubleshooting and resolution of equipment-related issues. Working closely with technical support teams to address and resolve problems quickly and efficiently.


Budgeting and Financial Oversight

  • Budget Development: Preparing and managing the engineering budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and expenditures are controlled. Developing budget forecasts and track spending to ensure alignment with financial goals.
  • Cost Management: Monitoring engineering expenses, identify cost-saving opportunities, and implement measures to reduce costs without compromising quality. Regularly reviewing and adjusting the budget as needed based on project requirements and financial performance.


Strategic Planning and Innovation

  • Technology Strategy: Developing and executing a strategic plan for engineering projects and initiatives. Aligning engineering objectives with the company’s overall strategic goals and market demands.
  • Market Research: Staying abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies and competitive developments. Leveraging this knowledge to drive innovation and ensure that the company remains at the forefront of broadcast technology.


Coordination and Collaboration

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Working closely with other departments, such as R&D, production, and technical support, to ensure that engineering solutions are integrated seamlessly with broader company operations. Facilitating cross-functional meetings and discussions to address project requirements and challenges.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintaining effective communication with internal stakeholders and external partners. Providing regular updates on project progress, technical challenges, and milestones.


User Support and Communication

  • Internal Support: Ensuring high-quality support for internal users, addressing technical issues and providing solutions to enhance their experience with engineering technologies.
  • Feedback Integration: Collecting and analyzing feedback from users and stakeholders to refine and improve engineering solutions. Using this feedback to drive continuous improvement and enhance overall performance.


Required Skills and Competencies

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. A Master’s degree or MBA is a plus.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in engineering management, with a focus on camera-based tracking technologies or related fields. Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring engineering teams.
  • Technical Skills: Strong expertise in designing, developing, and integrating engineering solutions. Familiarity with camera-based tracking systems and broadcast technology is preferred.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, with exceptional mentoring, training, and development skills.
  • Budget Management: Experience in managing budgets and financial oversight within an engineering context.
  • Innovation: Demonstrated ability to drive frugal innovation and optimize workflows for efficiency.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members, stakeholders, and senior management.
  • Problem-solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to address technical and operational challenges effectively.
