As a Senior Manager, Overwatch Analytics, you will lead a team of analysts to deliver insights to senior game design, product, and finance leaders across the Overwatch franchise. Your responsibilities include managing and mentoring a team of data analysts, reporting business-facing KPIs, addressing strategic questions by clarifying business requirements, partnering with the game leadership team to interpret insights, applying diverse metrics, leveraging tools like Tableau and Big Query to deliver insights, and collaborating with various teams to deliver business impact. The role involves understanding core business needs and structuring clear presentations of findings.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in data analytics or related roles
  • BS degree in a quantitative field.
  • Experience building and leading data analytics teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and analytical orientation.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and achieve results.
  • Ability to present findings with visualizations.
  • Strong quantitative skills and SQL query writing.
Good to have:
  • Experience communicating insights to executive-level audiences.
  • Experience with data modeling, data visualization, and statistics.
  • Highly proficient in SQL.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and big data.
  • Adept in at least one visualization tool such as Tableau.
  • Familiar with agile project management tools such as Jira.

Soldiers, scientists, adventurers, oddities…analysts!  Blizzard is looking for a skilled Senior Manager to lead a team of passionate analysts to deliver insights to senior game design, product, and finance leaders across the Overwatch franchise. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA

What you bring to the table:

Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Manage & lead a team of data analysts - Empower, coach, and mentor in partnering with and delivering key insights to the Overwatch game, product, and finance teams

  • Partner with analysts and engineers to clearly report business-facing KPIs that measure the health and success of Overwatch, played by millions of players worldwide

  • Comprehensively address both high-level and detailed strategic questions by clarifying the business requirements, developing hypotheses, and building an analytical structure to address the inquiry

  • Partner with the game leadership team to interpret and guide insights that address key business opportunities and help shape the future of Overwatch product and design

  • Apply diverse metrics and methods to handle partner expectations, working with teams to build tangible KPIs, with clear communication standards for project updates, headwinds, and successes

  • Leverage tools such as Tableau, Big Query, Airflow, & Git to deliver insights and provide visibility to key metrics across the business

  • Collaborate with Marketing, Finance, Game Business & Product Leadership, and regional analytics partners to deliver business impact, & effectively communicate findings to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Contribute to an inclusive atmosphere, where team members communicate and support each other's efforts, enabling a productive team culture, built upon trust and collaborative problem solving

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of work experience managing teams in Gaming, Data Analytics, Product Analytics, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or Product Management roles

  • BS degree in Computer Science, Math, Statistics, Economics, or other quantitative field

  • Experience building and leading data analytics teams

  • Analytical orientation and strong problem-solving skills, demonstrated by the ability to understand core business needs and get to the root of the inquiry

  • Curious, internally-motivated self-starter with ability to plan, organize, and establish priorities to manage multiple projects and achieve results in a timely, scalable manner

  • Have the ability to structure a concise, clear presentation of findings, based on large sets of complex data, and effectively present this to any level in the organization with appropriate visualizations

  • Strong quantitative skills with a penchant for analytical query writing using SQL

  • Experience communicating and advocating with analytical insights to executive-level audiences to inform decision making

  • Demonstrated experience with some or all of the following: data modeling, data visualization, statistics

  • Highly proficient in SQL

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms and big data (such as Google Cloud Platform, BigQuery, Hadoop, Teradata, and/or Azure)

  • Adept in at least one visualization tool such as Tableau; R or Python knowledge

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $134,320.00 - $248,404.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
