The Senior Specialist, Purchasing/Procurement will be responsible for daily purchasing activities, including placing and following up on purchase orders and resolving material shortages. They will manage supplier performance to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets are met. This role involves sourcing projects for new product development, transfer product, localization, and resourcing. The specialist will optimize the supply base, understand business requirements related to quality, cost, delivery, and technology, and develop supplier selection/development criteria. They will review engineering drawings, specifications, BOMs, and market trends to create cost breakdown templates. The role requires identifying suitable suppliers, developing long and short lists of potential vendors, and leading the supplier selection process through pre-visits, price benchmarking, and audits. They will also develop, maintain, and monitor commodity strategies and manage the negotiation process to deliver the total cost of ownership.
