What You'll Do

Epic Games is seeking a Senior Systems Designer to join our team working on Fortnite. In this role, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to shape and refine progression and reward systems, craft engaging quests and content, and ensure a compelling player journey across all of Fortnite’s varied experiences.

In this role, you will

  • Design, refine, and maintain progression systems that create compelling player journeys across the entire Fortnite ecosystem
  • Communicate and represent a vision for the player’s experience to your team members as well as broader game teams in the Fortnite ecosystem
  • Identify and implement Battle Royale progression systems that are fun and rewarding for players
  • Leverage analytics and product teams to provide recommendations for tuning, goals, cadence, and flow that reinforce healthy play patterns
  • Help guide the design, vision, and outcome for quest content that fulfills key player engagement metrics and supports broad systematic framework needs
  • Drive collaborative and iterative prototyping and live A|B testing, both paper-based and in-game
  • Attend playtests, provide feedback, identify practical solutions to problems, and work closely with production to identify, prioritize, assign, and evaluate design work.

What we're looking for

  • 5+ years of experience in game design with an emphasis on progression and reward systems, particularly in live-service games
  • Demonstrated talent for empathizing with players and a deep understanding of player motivations, forms of play, and the effects of goal setting on play
  • Passion for Fortnite Battle Royale with a comprehensive understanding of its current quest and progression systems
  • Solution-oriented problem solver who can react quickly to changing project needs and drive decisions
