Job Description

As a Senior Technical Animator, you'll bring cosmetics to life for characters and props in Unreal Engine using rigging, physics simulations, and procedural animation. Collaborate with animation and design teams to develop best practices for efficient, scalable characters across platforms. Responsibilities include creating dynamic character rigs, collaborating on asset creation, implementing animation blueprints and simulation systems, troubleshooting animation issues, optimizing assets for performance, documenting workflows, and mentoring others. Requires expertise in Maya, Unreal Engine's animation and rigging toolsets (RigidBodies, Cloth, Anim Nodes, Control Rig), optimization and troubleshooting, and strong problem-solving skills. Python scripting and cross-platform game experience are a plus.

Description

What we are looking for:

As a Senior Technical Animator, you will be responsible for breathing life into cosmetics for characters and props, leveraging rigging, runtime physics simulations and procedural animation techniques in Unreal Engine. Working closely with the animation and design teams, you will help develop best practices to create amazing characters that scale efficiently across various platforms.

Requirements

What we will do together:

  • Create dynamic character rigs and develop processes and pipelines to make the process more efficient.
  • Collaborate with internal and external teams to ensure assets meet creative and technical requirements.
  • Create and implement animation blueprints, simulation systems, secondary motion systems for characters and props.
  • Work with the animation and tech art teams to troubleshoot and debug animation issues.
  • Ensure assets are optimized for performance across multiple platforms.
  • Document techniques and workflows and mentor others to build up their skill level.

What you will bring:

  • Expertise with rigging and animation tools such as Maya.
  • Highly experienced with Unreal Engine’s animation and rigging toolsets, including RigidBodies, Cloth, Anim Nodes, Control Rig, and other systems.
  • Familiar with techniques to create efficient and scalable runtime characters and props.
  • Highly experienced with optimising and troubleshooting animation systems.
  • Researching and developing new techniques, approaches and solutions as required.
  • Capable leader and communicator who is comfortable with task prioritization, scoping, and delegation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in a scripting language such as Python a plus.
  • Experience working on cross-platform games.
  • A self-starter with a strong work ethic, a growth mindset, and the ability to work independently
