Big Ant Studios is seeking a highly talented and motivated Animator to join their team in Melbourne. The role involves working with art and code teams to improve character visuals, including mesh deformation, facial animation, cloth, and hair dynamics. Responsibilities include editing and cleaning motion capture data in Motion Builder, designing animation systems with gameplay team members, and coordinating and directing motion capture shoots. The ideal candidate will have strong animation skills, especially with body mechanics, along with technical expertise in Motion Builder and Maya. Experience with cloth and hair dynamics in video games, self-motivation, creative problem-solving, and a keen eye for detail are essential. Bonus points for knowledge of Xsens, Vicon Blade, motion capture, scripting languages, and classic animation fundamentals.
Must have:
  • Strong animation skills, especially with body mechanics
  • Strong technical skills in Motion Builder and Maya
  • Good working knowledge of cloth and hair dynamics, ideally in video games
  • Self-driven
  • Creative problem solver
  • A keen eye for detail and composition
  • Team player
Good to have:
  • Working knowledge of Xsens, Vicon Blade, and motion capture

The Job:

  • Work with art and code team members to improve character visuals, such as mesh deformation, facial animation, cloth, and hair dynamics.
  • Edit and clean motion capture data using Motion Builder
  • Design animation systems with gameplay team members
  • Coordinate and direct motion capture shoots

You:

  • Strong animation skills, especially with body mechanics
