Senior Technical Writer will be responsible for planning, authoring, consolidating, and releasing formal technical documentation for embedded software of our next-generation insulin pumps. The role involves creating and managing detailed architectural documentation, software requirements, and technical diagrams. Candidates should have extensive experience in API documentation, with a preference for those who have worked in the med tech industry. This position requires a deep understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate them into clear, accessible documentation.

• Develop and maintain comprehensive system architecture documents and create detailed diagrams and workflows that illustrate system components and interactions. Ensure all architectural documentation is up-to-date and accurate.
  

• Write detailed software requirement specifications (SRS) that define functional and non-functional requirements. Collaborate with product managers and engineers to capture and document system requirements, ensuring alignment with business and technical objectives.
  

• Create and update API documentation, including endpoint descriptions, request/response formats, and usage examples. Work closely with developers to ensure technical accuracy and completeness, and develop guides and examples to assist users in integrating with APIs.
  

• Design and create technical diagrams to support documentation, including system architecture, data flows, and process workflows. Use tools such as Visio, Lucidchart, or similar to produce clear and effective diagrams.
  

• Assist with the creation of quality documents, especially for the med tech sector, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. Contribute to documentation that supports quality assurance and regulatory submissions.
  

• Work with engineering teams, architects, and product managers to gather and document technical requirements. Facilitate clear communication across teams to ensure documentation is aligned with product development and release cycles.
  

• Identify and implement improvements in documentation processes and practices. Introduce automation and best practices to enhance documentation efficiency and consistency.
  

• Provide guidance and support to junior writers, helping them understand complex technical concepts and improve their writing skills.
  

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in writing architectural documents, software requirements, and technical diagrams, with proven experience in API documentation.
  

• Advanced skills in Adobe Framemaker, Paligo, Markdown, Oxygen XML, GIT, JIRA, and proficiency in diagramming tools such as Visio or Lucidchart.
  

• Exceptional ability to translate complex technical information into clear, user-friendly documentation.
  

• Strong collaboration and communication skills, with experience working with cross-functional teams.
  

• Experience in the med tech industry is advantageous but not required.
  

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (STEM, Communication, or equivalent) and 7+ years of experience in technical writing, focusing on architectural and software requirement documentation.
