The Role

A Software Engineer is a part of the game creation process, including architectural design, implementation, and debugging on multiple platforms—working on complex problems with Designers, Artists and other Engineers in domains including rendering, gameplay, audio, user interface, online, physics, databases and tools. You will report to the Operations Development Director and Technical Lead to estimate, build projects and provide excellent results.

Responsibilities:

  • You will own gathering requirements and writing technical functional design specifications of new features or new additions to existing features. Propose tech solutions for low to medium-complexity features

  • You will make use of dedicated technologies to work on solutions that cover main aspects of game development: game features, stability and performance optimizations (frame rate, load time, memory).

  • You will work with other domain owners to integrate and develop technologies into the game

  • You will analyze the impact to the above-mentioned metrics throughout the development cycle.

  • You will provide feedback, guidance, and solutions for improvement and optimizations.

  • You will report to the development manager and work with your peers to develop FC's foundation layer.

  • You will monitor performance and game stability impact from your changes and address any issues that may arise. You will investigate complex and hard to debug issues and provide tech solutions for addressing them.

  • You will be part of a dynamic team focused on bringing high-quality features, tools, and frameworks that form the foundation of the Live game modes, along with developing new features every year.

Qualifications:

  • Object-oriented programming experience of OO design principles

  • 6+ years’ experience in C++ software development

  • Strong C++ proficiency

  • Experience to quickly understand high-complexity existing and unfamiliar code and modify it.

  • Experience to adapt to existing multiple coding styles

  • Proficiency in integrating and maintaining large-scale systems covering multiple domains.

  • Understanding of memory management, multiple processor use, and run-time optimization.

  • Implementation experience with 3rd party APIs.

  • Skills in debugging complex applications.

  • Knowledge of job-based architectures might come in handy.

  • Experience to embrace challenges and find creative ways to overcome them

  • Strong experience with Visual Studio and deep knowledge of debugging tools.

  • Experience in C# and open-minded to learning new tech.

Nice to have:

  • Experience in UI technologies (Qt, Unity or Unreal UI frameworks).

  • Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Lua), C# and SQL.

  • Experience working within an agile team.

  • Experience with large logs analysis.

  • Experience working with Microsoft, Sony, or Nintendo game consoles.

  • Experience with Mobile, PC, or Cloud-based games; performance analysis.

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience
