As a Software Engineer on the Google Meet Interoperability/Rooms Media team, you'll play a crucial role in shaping the future of video conferencing. Must have:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 2 years of experience with software development
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms
  • Experience with Android using Java or Kotlin
Good to have:
  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and debugging
  • Experience developing accessible technologies
  • Experience with Linux, C++, Chrome OS, and JavaScript
  • Experience in developing cross-stack web-based systems

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, or 1 year of experience with an advanced degree.
  • 2 years of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  • Experience with Android using Java or Kotlin.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical fields.
  • 2 years of experience with performance, large-scale systems data analysis, visualization tools, and debugging.
  • Experience developing accessible technologies.
  • Experience with Linux, C++, Chrome OS, and JavaScript.

Responsibilities

  • Develop innovative features that enhance the video conferencing experience on various meeting room devices.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software partners to ensure seamless interoperability between Google Meet and third-party video conferencing solutions.
  • Optimize media quality, including video encoding and effects, to deliver crystal-clear audio and video in meeting room environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to media quality, system performance, and hardware/software integration.
  • Contribute to code reviews, design discussions, and technical documentation to foster a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
