Job Description

Google is seeking a Staff Software Engineer, Infrastructure, to contribute to the development and maintenance of large-scale software solutions within their Google Cloud platform. This role demands strong technical leadership, expertise in distributed systems, and experience with software design, testing, and deployment. Responsibilities include providing technical leadership on high-impact projects, influencing and coaching engineering teams, managing project priorities and deliverables, and designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing software solutions. The ideal candidate possesses a minimum of 8 years of software development experience, including expertise in data structures, algorithms, and large-scale infrastructure. Experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture is also crucial.

Must have:

8+ years software development experience
Data structures/algorithms expertise
Large-scale infrastructure experience
Software design & architecture skills
Testing and launching software products
Technical leadership

Good to have:

Master's degree in relevant field
Technical leadership experience
Cross-functional project experience

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience in software development, and with data structures/algorithms.
5 years of experience testing, and launching software products, and 3 years of experience with software design and architecture.
5 years of experience building and developing large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems or networks, or experience with compute technologies, storage, or hardware architecture.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction.
3 years of experience working in an organization involving cross-functional, or cross-business projects.
