Job Description
The Kinders Camp Assistant Teacher will work closely with teachers to plan and implement classroom learning, outdoor activities, and individual student supports. Responsibilities include providing classroom support, supervising children, assisting with behavior standards, leading activities, facilitating outdoor activities and field trips, building rapport with students, and supporting students who need additional care. The role also involves assisting with parent communications, volunteer guidance, and transportation needs, as well as administering assessments and maintaining clean classroom spaces. The position requires a commitment to World Relief's mission and values.
Must have:
- Experience working with young children in an early learning program.
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- King County Food Worker Card.
- Valid Driver’s License required and passing a motor vehicle background check.
Good to have:
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, volunteers, and staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle or organize multiple tasks at once.
- Flexibility and adaptability to a rapidly changing environment.

ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

This position is contingent upon the successful acquisition of additional funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on the availability of resources.
POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief seeks a Kinders Camp Assistant Teacher responsible for working closely with the camp teachers in planning and implementing classroom learning, outdoor activities, individual student supports, student paperwork, and parent and volunteer engagement needs.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide in-class support to summer camp teachers including classroom set-up and clean up, collecting required supplies, and assisting with games and other activities planned by the teacher.
- Provide group supervision whenever teachers need to be away from the class, especially on the playground and at mealtimes.
- Assist with behavior standards and positive supports for children and parents/caregivers, support with any parent communications needed.
- Lead simple activities such as recess sports and time-filler games.
- Assist in facilitating outdoor activities and field trips.
- Build rapport with each student in the class, carefully ensuring every individual receives equal, unbiased care.
- Support specific students who may need additional care, by spending 1:1 time walking them through the day, providing co-regulation, and helping them participate in projects and activities
- Assist the teacher in providing guidance to volunteers, parents, and other adults supporting the program
- Pro-actively communicate with teachers and other team members or the Supervisor on any issues or needs as they arise
- Support with any transportation needs of families including driving them to and from the camp.
- Support in administering assessments, and other data and reporting tasks, including completing or compiling day-to-day paperwork.
- Maintain clean and orderly classroom spaces, play areas, and supplies’ areas.
- Steward learning materials and camp host facility carefully.
- Actively participate in all team and camp meetings.
- Comply with all agency policies and protocols.
- Other related tasks as assigned.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- At least 1-2 years of formal experience working with young children in an early learning program, ideally English language learners or 1-2 two years of college/associate degree in a related field (i.e., education, child development, school counseling, TESOL)
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- King County Food Worker Card
- Driving required; Valid Driver’s License required, passing motor vehicle background check and any additional background screening required by WRWW.
- Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to communicate effectively, professionally, collaboratively and positively with students, volunteers, other teachers, and World Relief Staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to handle or organize multiple tasks at one time.
- Flexibility and adaptability to rapidly changing environment and strong classroom management skills.
- Language proficiency: Dari, Ukrainian, Swahili, Arabic, and Spanish.
$23.50 - $24.20 an hour
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
