The Analyst, DE Subscription Planning & Content Forecasting will play a key role in growing Disney's direct-to-consumer business, focusing on content forecasting. Responsibilities include developing and evaluating deal models for P&L impact of deal renewals, creating forecast models for content releases and their impact on subscriber acquisition and retention, partnering with content teams to optimize content release timing, and developing strategic analyses for leadership on KPIs, opportunities, and new initiatives. This role requires strong analytical skills, financial modeling expertise, excellent communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while collaborating effectively with various stakeholders across the organization.

The Subscription Planning team within DTC is a highly visible team of professionals with backgrounds in consulting, investment banking, private equity, media & entertainment, and technology who serve as in-house advisers to the TWDC’s DTC executive leadership team and own the subscriber, engagement and revenue growth planning functions. The team’s activities and accomplishments have contributed directly to the rapid growth and success of the Disney’s suite of streaming services: Disney+, Hulu and ESPN+.

Job Summary:

We are seeking an Analyst that will play a key role in growing our direct-to-consumer business, with a focus on Content Forecasting. They will help identify some of the business’ key issues and opportunities by providing subscriber transparency and help provide solutions by partnering with cross functional teams to evaluate strategic initiatives. This is inclusive of but not limited to: modeling the impacts of content on subscriber growth, developing and tracking KPI’s to drive execution and operational improvement, preparing go-to-market analyses on future content releases, evaluating deal renewals, and more.  They will also be responsible for collaborating closely with stakeholders from content planning, data analytics, strategy, research, marketing, scheduling, operational and many more teams.

The right person for this role has phenomenal analytical skills, experience in working with large data sets and building complex financial models, is self-motivated, a quick learner, and must display initiative in anticipating and exceeding the business demands of the key stakeholders. This role will be data and excel focused, responsible for sharing business insights, providing strategic recommendations, and influencing key operational decisions.

The pace and cadence for change at Disney necessitates an ability to manage multiple projects, collaborate with multiple stakeholders, and roll up sleeves to support this important segment of the Disney business.

Responsibilities and Duties of the Role:

  • Develop and evaluate deal models that look at the P&L impact of particular deal renewals (including Hulu Live) for the DTC business

  • Create and maintain forecast models for Disney Entertainment content releases and the subsequent impacts on subscriber acquisition and retention

  • Partner with content teams and regional partners throughout Disney to optimize timing of content releases

  • Develop strategic ad hoc analysis to present to leadership on KPI trends, opportunities / risks to plan, size new offerings, evaluate new strategic initiatives, and more.

Required Education, Experience/Skills/Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance, Economics or similar discipline with an analytical bias

  • 0-2 years of finance or strategy experience and proven track record with a media & entertainment firm, management consultancy, investment bank, PE firm or Big 4

  • Strong analytical capabilities and financial modeling skills (MS Excel), including the ability to build models from scratch

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills (including PowerPoint) and ability to simplify complex matters for an executive audience

  • Ability to work well in teams, both within the group and also with other business units

  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects at the same time, while keeping management properly informed

  • Familiarity with working in or with global, large organizations is a plus

The hiring range for this position in New York, NY is $82,000.00 to $109,800.00 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
