Responsibilities include leading communications strategy, creating communication plans, developing materials, supporting key stakeholders, and managing project closeout activities. The candidate must be able to commute to Columbus, Ohio and be on-site two days a week.

Communications Lead - Contract/1099

Position Overview
The Communications Lead will lead the assessment, strategy, planning and material development for a large client engagement considered a transformational initiative impacting people, process and technology across thousands of end users in the US. We need a professional that is local and prepared to be on site two days a week with the team and client (In the Columbus, Ohio vicinity)
This professional consultant will be responsible for collaborating across an OCM leadership team (working with stakeholder management, training, and overall OCM engagement lead) to receive content about stakeholders groups and in turn develop targeted communications that prepare employees to successfully step into the changes that new technology, processes, and roles bring. They will contribute specialized knowledge to deliverables and activities and will liaison with client’s IT and corporate communication representatives.
Responsibilities
  • This position must be based within commuting distance of Columbus, Ohio with 1-2 days onsite per week
  • This is a contract role with the potential for full-time employment
  • Responsible for assessment, strategy, planning and material development to drive change communications for impacted audiences
  • Responsible for targeted communications required for each impacted stakeholder group; materials associated with plan(s)
  • Consults corporate communication liaison or IT communication liaison
  • Establish and recommend communication strategy (including creative ideas for key messages, digital social/content collaboration tools, communication processes, other)
  • Create, recommend, and maintain communication plan(s) – aligned to strategy and program roadmap
  • Develop communication materials and advise most effective delivery channels, messengers, process, etc.
  • Support key stakeholders in delivery of targeted communications – leveraging channels, distributing messages to defined audiences and mediums, and responding to feedback for effectiveness
  • Team leadership and mentoring
  • Translate key deliverables to tools and templates for reuse with future client engagements
  • Manage close out activities including client satisfaction survey, case study and IP
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of MS-Office suite of software applications and tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS-Outlook

Required Skillsets

  • Experience with change communications best practices for large scale transformations
  • Experience with assessing, designing, and supporting execution and maintenance of communications workstreams for impacted stakeholder groups
  • Ability to create elevated and creative communications.
  • Experience with identifying and managing key stakeholder and business representatives
  • Experience with defining communication strategies, plans and collateral for multiple-levels within the organization
  • Experience with development of key messaging appropriate for broader as well as targeted audiences
  • Proven experience in project and time management to produce deliverables or solutions in an iterative, agile manner (allowing for time for client input via approval process)
  • Proven experience in preparing for and facilitating effective sessions (internal and client facing)
  • At least seven (7) years professional communication experience
  • Experience developing communications for transformations involving the implementation of new technology, process, and roles preferred
