Tesla seeks a Construction Manager for Life Safety Systems at its Gigafactory in Berlin-Brandenburg. This role involves managing cross-functional projects related to fire protection and safety systems, from conception to completion. Responsibilities include coordinating on-site activities, communicating with various teams (engineering, commissioning, manufacturing, production, and facilities), providing technical input for project scope development, enforcing quality standards, collaborating with facilities teams on project handover, developing scopes of work, and coordinating with procurement. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant engineering or construction management field, extensive experience managing technical projects (preferably large industrial projects in Germany), and a strong understanding of construction administration processes. The role demands excellent communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills.

What to Expect

Tesla is seeking a highly motivated Construction Manager Safety System who will play a leading role in building the most exciting factory in the world: Tesla’s Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg. You will be a part of a team, that manages projects which will range from ground up construction to tenant improvements on facilities that support production lines. You will work cross-functionally with facilities engineering, commissioning, and manufacturing planning teams to ensure project success.

What You’ll Do
  • Manage cross functional factory/ construction/ operational safety relevant systems and fire protection projects with ambitious agenda.
  • Coordinates, supervise, direct, and communicate on-site activities related to structural fire protection and fire safety systems from conception to completion, ensuring quality and timely delivery.
  • Communicate with the various teams to ensure quality clear requirements and timelines, interface between with engineering, commissioning, manufacturing, production, and facilities teams.
  • Responsible to provide technical and design input for project scope development, and problem resolution for design, construction, equipment installation and commissioning including temporary solutions, project performance against targets for safety, scope, schedule, and budget
  • Enforce and maintain quality standards for engineering drawings and field installations and initiate project close-out with the QA/QC team.
  • Collaborate with the facilities teams to ensure ownership and handover of works are clearly defined and are aligned upon completion of works, as well as project controls team to ensure costs and schedule are in-line with the forecast and program needs.
  • Develop scopes of work and coordinate with the procurement team to initiate the bidding cycle and review contractor bids referencing experience, cost and schedule estimates.
What You’ll Bring
  • Bachelor/master’s degree in civil, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, electrical, fire protection engineering or construction management. Alternatively relevant work experience and evidence of exceptional ability
  • Extensive experience managing technical projects (Preferably in large industrial projects in Germany).
  • Proven success in construction management, communications, influencing others, cross-functional team interaction, and driving results on time.
  • Thorough understanding of construction administration processes, including contracts, budgets, construction documents, change orders, schedules, RFIs, submittals and material procurement.
  • Excellent organization, problem solving, tactical thinking and time management skills.
  • Understanding of construction design documents and ability to provide constructability feedback prior to and during construction.
  • Working knowledge of building codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Ability to work within a high-performance, cross-functional organization with extremely tight timelines and aggressive goals.
  • Proven record of quickly adapting to business needs, can-do mindset, flexibility, and fast learner. Ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment.
  • Working knowledge of technical software: CAD, Microsoft
  • Excellent communication skills, preferably in both German and English
