The ideal candidate has 2+ years of assistant experience in a studio or agency, a passion for DEIA, excellent communication and organizational skills, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite.

Summary of Position

Lionsgate is seeking a proactive and resourceful Coordinator, Inclusive Content for its Motion Picture Group (MPG). Reporting to the Head of Inclusive Content, this role has touch points across all levels of staff and leaders, and requires a focus on developing and maintaining trusted relationships in order to deliver key results and outcomes. Across all its work, the Inclusive Content team focuses on further integrating inclusion into operational procedures, creative processes, and the film slate, in order to strategically support and elevate content that authentically resonates and reaches global audiences, unlocks additional revenue and market share, and aids the MPG in sustaining success amidst a rapidly evolving media landscape.

 

The ideal candidate is someone with several years’ experience in a studio, agency, or production company who is eager to transition into a multi-faceted, cross-functional role at the intersection of creative strategy, business strategy, and inclusion. The position requires a highly-organized, collaborative, and self-motivated individual who enjoys problem-solving, and possesses a can-do work ethic, as the Coordinator will be responsible for maintaining the daily operations of the Inclusive Content department. Previous experience in film/television development, acquisitions, global marketing & advertising, market research, international sales, and/or diversity, equity, inclusion, & accessibility (DEIA) is also helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Support Head of Inclusive Content in implementation & integration of department’s holistic strategy & approach
  • Assist in identifying key creative & business opportunities for our slate with regular tracking and amplification of underrepresented talent including, but not limited to:
    • Attending weekly creative meetings, regularly supporting the creation of talent lists/decks for key projects, and pitching/presenting talent/material to meet current slate needs
    • Frequently evaluating scripts/material, providing timely and insightful coverage, notes, and feedback
    • Covering film festivals and flagging content, talent, reviews, deals, etc.
    • Staying current on industry trades and cultural zeitgeist, as well as tracking key audience trends, flagging news & developments where relevant
    • Preparing presentations, pitch decks, reports, and other materials as needed 
  • Manage a high level of communication with internal and external contacts including vendors, support staff, executives, producers, etc. 
  • Manage departmental grids and lists to ensure slate updates, talent tracking, submissions/pitches, etc are all kept current, organized, and optimized for easy reference
  • Support the design and execution of signature Inclusive Content events/programs when they serve as strategic creative, relationship, or brand building opportunities for MPG, particularly with/for underrepresented talent
  • Aid in operation of employee content review board, coordinating meeting logistics, assisting in discussion prep & facilitation, as well as preparation of deliverables for key stakeholders
  • Prepare agendas/materials for priority meetings, shadow key meetings, taking notes and actively participating in brainstorms and problem solving where appropriate. Compile meeting recaps for priority meetings.
  • Build and grow relationships with key stakeholders, better understanding their lanes of business and identifying opportunities for greater collaboration or synergy
  • Regularly update department budget tracker, as well as submit & track department invoices, following up regularly with accounting to ensure vendors are paid in a timely fashion
  • Develop and drive select projects independently as needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent educational experience
  • Minimum 2 years previous assistant experience (preferably at an agency, studio, or production company)
  • Innovative, entrepreneurial, and adaptable self-starter who proactively seeks ways of developing their own skills, while being open to taking direction, support and feedback
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills, including ability to manage workload effectively, juggle multiple workstreams, and prioritize effectively based on urgency and impact to the business
  • Demonstrated passion for diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility and/or commitment to serving underrepresented communities
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills with ability to communicate clearly and concisely to stakeholders of all levels, with an exceptional attention to detail
  • Resourceful and proactive approach to work, with ability to drive projects independently and with accountability
  • High level of integrity, trustworthiness, and discretion, with ability to uphold confidentiality, composure and diplomacy at all times when navigating sensitive situations or material
  • Active listener with high degree of intellectual curiosity and desire to understand different perspectives
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), Google Suite (e.g. Drive, Docs, Sheets, PowerPoint, etc), workplace technology tools (e.g. Box, Teams, Zoom, etc), and some graphic design (e.g. Canva)
  • Interest in entertainment (particularly film), knowledge of main players in the industry, and understanding of the studio filmmaking process preferred
  • Ability to keep finger on the pulse of cultural zeitgeist and current trends particularly helpful
  • Prior development experience and/or demonstrated development skillsets helpful (i.e reading scripts, writing coverage, building talent lists, tracking talent and material, leveraging existing network to source info, etc.)
