Job Description

As a Customer Engineering Manager at Google Cloud, you'll lead a team engaging with business prospects, named accounts, and channel partners to understand and assess customer requirements. Responsibilities include presenting Google Cloud technologies, addressing technical objections, driving solution innovation, and managing a diverse team of engineering professionals. You will work closely with the sales team, maintain customer satisfaction, and ensure the team's Go-To-Market readiness. The role demands strong technical expertise and cross-functional collaboration, including working with business management to determine staffing levels and participating in opportunity review meetings. You will be responsible for training the team, identifying and addressing gaps in training and skills, and maintain customer satisfaction.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree in CS or related field
  • 10+ years pre-sales engineering experience
  • Fluent English and Korean communication
  • Team management and leadership skills
  • Technical expertise in Cloud technologies
Good to have:
  • Pre-Sales Management experience
  • Software lifecycle and development experience
  • Experience with data platform, AI/ML, and infrastructure
  • Experience engaging with executive leaders

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 10 years of experience as a pre-sales engineer at an enterprise technology company, or in a similar customer-facing role.
  • Ability to communicate in English and Korean fluently as this is a customer-facing role that requires interactions with local stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience as a Pre-Sales Manager or a people manager in a technical customer-facing role within a Sales Engineering team.
  • Experience with software life-cycles, building tools, developing software for scalable, distributed systems, including data platform, AI/ML and infrastructure.
  • Experience managing a team through business processes, operations and career development, including account mapping, goal setting, quarterly/annual performance management, and managing sensitive information.
  • Experience engaging with, and presenting to, technical stakeholders and executive leaders, including tailoring and delivering messages by audience, asking questions, and leading conversations that drive business opportunity.

You will prepare and present demonstrations of Google’s Cloud technologies and address technical objections that arise. You will lead efforts to drive solution innovation, working across the organization to identify the right assets and tools to drive customer adoption. You will manage a diverse team of engineering professionals. You will maintain the technical expertise to engage directly with prospects and work cross-functionally.

Responsibilities

  • Work with business management team to determine proper staffing levels to support annual goals.
  • Train and equip the Customer Engineering (CE) team. Assess team's Go-To-Market (GTM) readiness, identify gaps and build plans to ensure they are properly trained.
  • Work with the Cloud Sales team and leadership to identify, qualify, and prioritize coverage for business opportunities. Participate in periodic opportunity review meetings.
  • Maintain customer satisfaction through working with internal teams to resolve product problems affecting customer satisfaction.
