Who are we hiring?

Sphere Studios is looking for a Deliverables Technical Specialist to join a groundbreaking studio technology department based in Los Angeles. As the content delivery team for Sphere projects, we strive to deliver world-class content at an unprecedented scale on the largest LED screens ever made.

This role will be fully integrated with our artist teams to format and execute file assets at milestone points throughout the creative, iterative, and final approval processes. They will be responsible for mastering and creating final deliverable files for the interior and exterior spherical screens of the Sphere venue in Vegas, as well as various custom review formats. They will work with the studio technical teams and project managers to ensure all media meets content and technical specifications.

Ideal candidates need a solid understanding of traditional post and VFX workflows.  Must have experience with Nuke as well as a general familiarity with standard compositing, DCC and NLE applications, color pipelines, and file formats.

What will you do? 

  • Manage the file creation of custom Sphere media plane assets through all stages of production using Nuke and other applications in a Deadline-managed distributed rendering environment.
  • Master multiple custom workflows for proprietary color management and projection mapping to ensure content quality and accurate execution of file deliverables for Sphere media planes.
  • Learn and utilize proprietary software tools attached to our specialized high resolution capture system (Big Sky) for rendering and delivery tasks.
  • Assist in the establishment and refinement of pipeline tools and protocols for working, monitoring, reviewing, and delivering content that meets Sphere’s color and resolution requirements.
  • Work closely with Project Management, Playback and various operations teams to ensure all assets are delivered on time and meet all technical and creative requirements.

What do you need to succeed? 

  • Proficiency equivalent to 3+ years of experience working as VFX technical assist, or junior compositor/roto/paint/tracking artist.
  • Nuke experience and ability to work in multiple platforms (Linux, Windows) required.
  • Experience with Deadline rendering and scripting for automation.
  • Working knowledge of color pipelines, and color management across standard DCC platforms.
  • Knowledge of VR production methods and/or working with large formats strongly preferred.
  • Positive attitude and expressed interest in new technology and innovation.

Pay Range
$107,000$140,000 USD
