Job Description

As the Director of Sustainability Reporting and Analytics, you will lead the development, implementation, and oversight of sustainability data collection and reporting processes, with a focus on greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and analysis. You will be involved in strategic planning, collaboration, partner engagement, ensuring the accurate disclosure of our sustainability performance and compliance with regulatory requirements. You will report to the Assistant Controller. Responsibilities include leading sustainability reporting, partnering with various teams, monitoring regulatory landscapes, developing customer inquiry response strategies, developing internal controls, tracking progress against climate targets, and performing data analysis.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting
  • 10+ years experience in Sustainability, ESG Reporting, SEC Reporting
  • Experience with corporate greenhouse gas emission accounting
  • Advanced proficiency in GHG accounting methodologies and frameworks
  • Mastery of spreadsheet, presentation, analytics, and database applications

About the Role

As the Director of Sustainability Reporting and Analytics you will develop, implement, and oversee the sustainability data collection and reporting processes, with an emphasis on greenhouse gas (GHG) accounting and analysis. You will be involved in strategic planning, collaboration, partner engagement, ensuring the accurate disclosure of our sustainability performance. You will drive continuous improvement in sustainability reporting, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements and partner expectations. You will report to the Assistant Controller. 

You will be based at our Headquarters in Midtown New York City. You will work a hybrid work schedule with the expectation of 3 in office days each week.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead our sustainability reporting processes, including greenhouse gas emissions reporting (Scope 1, 2 and 3), to ensure the accurate collection, measurement, and disclosure of metrics following regulatory requirements and partner expectations.

  • Partner with finance, legal and our communications teams to ensure reporting accuracy, regulatory compliance, and readiness for external disclosure.

  • Monitor regulatory landscapes, including sustainability disclosure and compliance requirements, and lead projects to develop reporting practices.

  • Develop customer inquiry response strategy.

  • Develop internal controls over data collection and reporting processes, and help create the control framework, including evaluating risks.

  • Track and forecast progress against climate targets and benchmark performance

  • Develop standardized processes for climate-related data collection and reporting.

  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improving GHG emissions performance.

  • Demonstrate support and understanding of our value of journalistic independence and a commitment to our mission to seek the truth and help people understand the world.

 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Accounting.

  • 10+ years experience in Sustainability, ESG Reporting, SEC Reporting

  • Experience with corporate greenhouse gas emission accounting, encompassing Scope 1, 2, and 3 data collection, analysis, and assurance.

  • Advanced proficiency in GHG accounting methodologies and reporting frameworks (e.g., GHG Protocol, CDP, SASB, ISSB, GRI)

  • Mastery of spreadsheet, presentation, analytics, database, and financial applications.
