As Email Marketing Lead, you'll manage Make's email marketing portfolio, partnering with various teams to maximize effectiveness and drive business results. Responsibilities include developing and implementing processes for timely delivery of impactful communications, acting as a subject matter expert on email tooling and technologies, collaborating on data sourcing and sharing, managing customer segmentation and targeting, ensuring effective reporting and performance evaluation, identifying areas for improvement, establishing email best practices, providing training, and ensuring compliance with regulations. This role requires a strong analytical mindset, experience leading teams, proficiency in marketing automation tools, and excellent communication skills.

We’re looking for an email marketing expert to bring their strategic thinking, data savvy, technical expertise and impeccable execution to maximize the effectiveness of Make’s email programs. We’re growing fast - and that means bigger ambitions, more complex needs. In this newly-created role, you’ll drive your own portfolio of email marketing activities, support other teams using the channel in their projects, and grow Make’s technical capabilities in email marketing..

With an initial focus on driving impactful engagement with existing customers, this role will also need to partner closely with other teams across Make to ensure we take a holistic approach to managing all email activities across the company. Our ideal candidate is a pragmatic leader who can balance operational delivery while making meaningful progress towards a longer-term vision.

As a Senior Manager in Make’s Marketing team, you’ll be supported by a strong network of peers who are on a mission to continue the company’s exponential growth. You’ll thrive in a start-up environment, ruthlessly focusing on the initiatives that will make the biggest impact, while keeping an eye on ensuring we’re ready for the future.

Responsibilities

  • Manage our overall portfolio of email activity, partnering with teams across Make to ensure its maximum effectiveness in responding to user needs and driving business results
  • Develop, implement and manage processes to ensure the timely delivery of impactful communications and campaigns to Make customers
  • Act as subject matter expert and owner for our tooling, advocating for and implementing technology solutions that are appropriate to our scale and ambitions
  • Partner with teams across Make to source and share data that drives the effectiveness of our customer acquisition and retention activities
  • Manage customer segmentation and targeting to ensure that campaigns are personalized and relevant to every recipient
  • Ensure appropriate reporting is available for email, while guiding the business on how best to evaluate performance
  • Use data to identify and drive opportunities for improvement in customer communication and engagement
  • Develop email best practices and enable internal stakeholders to follow them
  • Provide training and support to team members on email system usage and best practices
  • Ensure email practices comply with internal policies and data protection regulations

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in email marketing with demonstrated knowledge of email best practices including technical (deliverability, data, personalization), content  (subject lines, messaging, design) and performance (send times, campaign cadences) etc
  • Strong experimental and analytical mindset with the ability to leverage data and metrics to drive decision-making and optimize marketing efforts
  • Proven track record in managing and growing a motivated team
  • Proficiency in English with the ability to create compelling messaging and content
  • Familiarity with email design and coding concepts such as HTML, CSS, Canva, Figma
  • Passion for customer-centric marketing and delivering exceptional customer experiences
  • Track record leading people, either in project teams and/or as a line manager
  • Experience working within a digital workflow, partnering with content writers, designers and technical teams to deliver effective campaigns
  • Proficiency in marketing automation tools (e.g., HubSpot, Marketo, Pardot)
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and represent marketing initiatives to key stakeholders
