Job Description

The Field Applications Engineer will provide technical expertise, customer training, system design, and field support to installer networks. This role involves collaboration with various teams to deliver system integration and a superior customer experience across Queensland and ANZ. Key responsibilities include supporting product adoption, communicating customer requirements, leading technical product adoption programs, executing new product introductions, developing documentation, providing support for complex system designs, and conducting field testing. The engineer will also work closely with customer support and field services, fostering a collaborative work environment.
Must have:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience with solar and energy storage applications.
  • Minimum 3 years in solar electric and energy storage design.
Good to have:
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Electrical License.
  • Familiarity with DNSP/Grid approval processes.
  • Proficient with drafting and modelling software.

About the role
 
Provide hands-on technical expertise, customer training, system design, and field support throughout the installer networks. Collaborate with Enphase engineering, sales, and product teams to deliver system integration, and a superior customer experience for installer networks across Queensland, and throughout ANZ.
 
Who you will do
  • Collaborate closely with the Sales Team, providing technical expertise to support product adoption and customer success.
  • Communicate customer technical requirements clearly to Product Management and Development teams, ensuring customer feedback is integrated into ongoing improvements.
  • Lead and support technical product adoption programs, working in partnership with customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Execute New Product Introduction (NPI) activities in the field, ensuring seamless integration with existing customer systems.
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive documentation, including design guides, line diagrams, standard BOMs, technical briefs, best practices, and training materials, in collaboration with team members.
  • Provide specialized support for complex system designs, working closely with engineering and customer-facing teams.
  • Coordinate and conduct field testing and feedback collection for new hardware and software in a team-oriented environment.
  • Partner closely with Customer Support and Field Services teams to ensure outstanding customer experience and swift issue resolution.
  • Foster a collaborative work culture by sharing knowledge, best practices, and solutions within the broader technical and sales teams.
  
Who you are and What you bring
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in any jurisdiction is a plus.
  • Electrical License is an advantage.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed solar, energy storage, and energy management applications.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the design, engineering, and construction of residential solar electric and energy storage systems.
  • Strong understanding of PV and energy storage system performance, as well as economic modelling.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting electrical systems and data networks using tools such as multi-meters, power quality analysers, and data acquisition systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of AS/NZS Standards and regulatory codes for PV and energy storage installations.
  • Familiarity with DNSP/Grid approval processes and compliance requirements for residential projects.
  • Proficient with drafting and modelling software such as AutoCAD and PVSyst.
  • Practical experience with inverters/converters, AC & DC systems, and interconnection methods between PV, energy storage systems, and the grid, including advanced grid functionalities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel locally, domestically, and occasionally internationally.
  • Experience working independently in remote settings while maintaining close collaboration with customers, team members, and management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build and maintain productive working relationships across different teams.

We will NOT be reviewing any international candidates.
