💻 Role 

The Head of Corporate Security at Whatnot will be responsible for overseeing and executing the company’s security strategy with a primary focus on ensuring the safety of the company’s employees, assets, and facilities. The Head of Corporate Security will work closely with leadership and other cross-functional teams to maintain a secure environment for Whatnot’s growing workforce.

  • Develop and lead the security strategy for Whatnot’s offices, events, and executive protection programs, ensuring the safety and well-being of employees.
  • Implement and oversee security protocols for in-person company events, including product launches, conferences, and employee gatherings.
  • Oversee the security operations teams and provide guidance, support, and training as needed.
  • Partner with senior leadership to evaluate and improve the security measures for high-profile executives and sensitive company operations.
  • Assess the availability of public information and monitor potential risks related to the exposure of personal data, company operations, and executive details.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to create employee safety programs, raise awareness of security risks, and provide training for staff on best practices.
  • Develop contingency plans and ensure a quick, efficient response to any security incidents or emergencies affecting Whatnot employees and locations.
  • Implement strategies for interacting with local law enforcement or otherwise responding to online threats or emergencies.
  • Stay informed on industry trends related to corporate security and public data exposure, applying best practices to Whatnot’s security strategy.

Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our San Francisco, Los Angeles, or New York hubs.

As our Head of Corporate Security, you should have 10+ years of experience in corporate security, risk management, or a related field, with a focus on employee and executive protection, plus:

  • Proven experience in managing security operations for both office settings and large-scale events.
  • Strong understanding of public information exposure risks and how to mitigate potential threats to company assets and key personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability to assess security needs and design appropriate strategies for both short-term and long-term protection goals.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex security protocols and concepts to non-expert audiences across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in developing and leading security programs, including office safety, employee awareness, and executive protection.
  • A deep understanding of physical security technologies, risk management frameworks, and compliance with relevant safety regulations and standards.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with HR, legal, and other internal teams to develop holistic security solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, with a proven track record of handling multiple security initiatives simultaneously, from planning through execution.
  • A proactive, hands-on approach, capable of responding swiftly and effectively in high-pressure situations.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing company environment, with the flexibility to adapt to changing priorities.
  • A strong team player, with the ability to build collaborative relationships across the organization and drive security initiatives forward.

💰Compensation

$240,000/year to $275,000/year + benefits + equity.

The salary range may be inclusive of several levels that would be applicable to the position. Final salary will be based on a number of factors including, level, relevant prior experience, skills, and expertise. This range is only inclusive of base salary, not benefits (more details below) or equity.
