Seated in our Los Angeles headquarters (hybrid), Genies is looking for a highly skilled, creative and experienced Lead Pipeline Technical Director to support our 3D Asset and Technical Art initiatives. We are looking for someone to steer asset pipeline projects and lead a team of technical directors to develop and maintain tools and workflows to increase capabilities and efficiency. This candidate should be eager to work in a fast paced environment where they will have an opportunity to make a broad impact through strategic and technical contributions. The ideal candidate will be comfortable with traditional CG studio and gaming pipelines and how they interface with realtime engines running on multiple platforms.

What You’ll be Doing:

  • Design and develop art pipeline and asset management tools that accelerate our product roadmap
  • Scope and track pipeline initiatives and secure resourcing to ensure deliverables
  • Build clean, extensible software components and systems with open standards and portability
  • Provide and coordinate front-line support for asset tracking, asset ingestion, and asset triaging from art authoring to game integration.
  • Identify and recommend systems and software to increase capacity and fortify existing processes
  • Anticipate cross department needs and work to improve efficiency
  • Collaborate closely with Content Engineering & Avatar Technology teams to improve automated systems for processing internal and external assets (UGC)
  • Grow and mentor team of technical directors

What You Should Have:

  • Minimum 5 years experience in the games or media industry as a technical lead / manager
  • Production experience in all areas of 3D content creation, including modeling, rigging, animation, and look development
  • Expertise in Python scripting and package distribution for DCCs (both GUI and standalone)
  • Experience with:
    • DCC software packages: Blender, Maya, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Nuke
    • Unreal, Unity, and/or other real time engines
    • Software development languages, (C++, C#) to extend DCC or Engine functionality
    • Windows, OSX, and Linux operating systems
    • PyQt / PySide development experience
    • Centralized package distribution and version control: GitHub, Jenkins (or other CI/CD tools)
    • Environment management: Docker, Virtualenv
    • Cloud computing: AWS services including  S3 storage, Lambda functions, and SDK libraries
  • Strong initiative, highly organized with the ability to work independently
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills

The actual base pay is dependent upon a number of factors, including: professional background, training, transferable skills, work experience, education, location, business and product needs, and market demand. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time employees may also be eligible for equity compensation, in addition to a robust health, wellness, and benefits package. 

Starting Salary Range: $125,000 to $225,000
