Oxide Games, headquartered in Timonium, Maryland, is a PC game development studio specializing in building AAA real-time strategy games. A relatively new player in the industry, Oxide has quickly made a name for itself with its ambitious projects and state-of-the-art technology. As the Head of Production at Oxide Games, you will lead and oversee all aspects of the production process to ensure that our AAA strategy games are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. In this role, you will also be responsible for growing and scaling Oxide’s production capabilities to support and oversee multiple projects. You will work closely with creative, technical, and executive teams to align project goals with the studio's vision, guiding production from concept to launch. Your leadership will be key to managing resources, mitigating risks, and fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and excellence.

In this role, you will…
  • Manage the entire production lifecycle of AAA strategy games from pre-production through to post-launch support, ensuring that all projects meet their milestones and goals.
  • Create and implement production strategies, workflows, and schedules that align with the studio’s creative vision and business objectives, promoting efficiency and collaboration.
  • Oversee and mentor a diverse team of producers, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and efficient production environment where everyone feels empowered to contribute their best work.
  • Work closely with the heads of art, design, engineering, and QA to ensure seamless communication and coordination across all teams and encourage diverse perspectives and ideas.
  • Develop and manage production budgets, ensuring that projects are delivered within financial constraints while maximizing resource efficiency.
  • Identify potential risks and challenges throughout the production process and implement proactive solutions to address them, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between production teams and senior management, providing regular updates on project status, risks, and opportunities.
  • Continuously evaluate and refine production processes to improve efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and ensure the highest quality output.
  • Oversee relationships with external vendors, contractors, and partners, ensuring they meet the studio’s standards and project requirements.
  • Oversee the post-launch phase of game development, including updates, patches, and live service support, ensuring the game meets player expectations and maintains player engagement.
What types of education and experience do you need for this role?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Game Development/Design, Project Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in game production, with at least 7+ years in a senior or leadership role within AAA game development.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills, focusing on leading multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced, creative environment while fostering inclusivity and collaboration.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale game projects from concept to launch, with a deep understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • A solid understanding of the technical aspects of game development, including game engines, pipelines, and tools.
  • Experience with Agile development practices and tools; ScrumMaster certification is a plus but not required.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with creative, technical, and executive teams and to welcome diverse perspectives.
  • Experience managing large budgets and complex resource allocation across multiple projects.
  • Ability to align production goals with the studio’s strategic vision, with a strong focus on delivering high-quality products on time and within budget.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to identifying and resolving production challenges.
  • A deep passion for strategy games and a commitment to delivering high-quality gaming experiences that resonate with diverse players.
