Your work with us

Our product that handles Build and Release and validation / submission solutions for game teams is called Skybuild. It is an important part of our portfolio, and we are looking for a Technical Director to lead this product. You will report to the Principal Technical Director overseeing this group, and will be the technical leader in this space.

You will take a leadership role in managing this group, and will be accountable for both the technology strategy and the engineers working on the product.

This position is for you if …

  • You're willing to step beyond your comfort zone and face new challenges.

  • You enjoy leading a team of Software Engineers, creating technical strategies, and leading architecture / design.

Important Responsibilities

  • Team Management: You will lead a dynamic team of Leads and Individual Contributors in Build and Release, promoting an atmosphere of innovation and collaboration.

  • Partnerships: Collaborate with both Game and Technical team members within Creative Technologies (in partnership with our frontline service team) and our customers (game teams) to define goals and milestones.

  • Solution Architecture: Work with Product Management, the Creative Technologies Leadership Team, and partners to design technical solutions that meet project requirements and schedules.

  • Technical Decision-making: Use your expertise to arbitrate technical decisions for the engineering team, and articulate / define the WHAT, HOW, and (in partnership with Product Management) WHY for our technology roadmaps.

  • Mentorship: Provide technical mentorship and guidance to the team, promoting an environment of learning and improvement.

  • Quality Review: Review completed engineering deliverables before release, ensuring that they meet our standards of quality and reliability.

  • Risk Management: Identify potential technical risks and manage them, implementing mitigation strategies.

  • Broad Technical Understanding: Develop an understanding of EA's game technologies, engines, and strategies, ensuring that our development is aligned with EA's broader goals.

Qualifications

  • Experience working on large-scale Build and Release (example: a AAA game), or a large-scale collaborative platform (example: a DevOps platform).

  • A comprehensive understanding of the CI / CD space.

  • 8+ years as a Software Engineer / Developer, with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Experience working with public cloud infrastructure (one/more of AWS, GCP, or Azure).

  • Proficiency in risk management, able to identify potential issues and create mitigation strategies.

  • Comfortable working in a remote or hybrid environment.

  • Willing to travel to meet with team members and partners in person.

  • Bachelor's degree in one of Computer Science (or related technical field) or equivalent practical experience.

Management skills required:

  • 3+ years of experience as a People Manager.

  • Instil a culture that prioritises game teams as valued customers, ensuring their needs are met at the forefront of product delivery and the decision-making process.

  • Mentor, coach, and aid in the development of team members.

  • Set clear goals, and deliver them on time / at quality.

  • Negotiate with partners, vendors, and customers (game teams / game creators.)
