Job Description

ByteDance is seeking a Network Software Development Engineer to join their Programmable Network team in Seattle. This role involves crafting and developing cutting-edge network programmable system platforms, including conceptualization, creation, automated testing, and intelligent operation of novel architectures and components. You will work on developing software utilizing programmable chips, DPUs, and FPGAs to enhance and expedite network services, including gateways, network edges, and in-network computing. Collaboration with business partners to integrate the network programmable system platform is also a key responsibility, involving discussions to confirm solutions and joint efforts in design and development.

Must have:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Communications, or related field
Proficiency in C/C++, Python, and Go
Understanding of switch operating systems
Knowledge of P4 language
Experience in network data plane development

Good to have:

Contribution to SONIC development
Familiarity with DPDK, OVS, virtio
Passion for network technology
Commitment to code excellence

This includes the conceptualization, creation, automated testing, and intelligent operation of novel architectures and components. * Engaging in software development that utilizes programmable chips, Data Processing Units (DPUs), and Field-Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) to enhance and expedite network services, including gateways, network edges, and in-network computing. * Collaborating with business partners to integrate the network programmable system platform. This entails dialogues to confirm solutions and joint efforts in design and development.

Qualifications

--- Qualifications * A Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Communications, or a related field. * Robust programming skills, with proficiency in mainstream languages such as C/C++, Python, and Go. * A solid understanding of switch operating systems, with a preference for candidates who have contributed to the development of open-source Network Operating Systems like SONIC. * Knowledge of the P4 language, ideally with hands-on experience in network data plane development tasks, including gateways, load balancing, and Network Address Translation (NAT). * Familiarity with and experience in open-source frameworks such as DPDK, OVS, virtio is considered an asset. * A strong passion for network technology, a commitment to code and design excellence, and the practice of good coding habits. --- ByteDance is committed to creating an inclusive space where employees are valued for their skills, experiences, and unique perspectives. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $184300 - $337250 annually.​
Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​
