Job Description

As a Principal Product Manager, you will define and execute the product strategy for Vimeo's APIs and SDKs. You will establish best practices for building, updating, and maintaining these tools, working closely with engineering and cross-functional teams. This role involves leading product strategy, understanding customer needs through interviews and analysis, measuring API performance, and collaborating with various teams to build professional-grade APIs and SDKs. You will be responsible for commercializing these products.
Must have:
  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a deep background on APIs.
  • Clear understanding of API design principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven track record of successfully launching, scaling, and maintaining APIs and SDKs.
  • Strong communication skills.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Principal Product Manager to join our team. As a member of our Product organization, you will be responsible for defining and executing the product strategy for our suite of APIs and SDKs. You will serve as an internal champion defining and implementing best practices for building, updating, and maintaining our APIs and SDKs. You will work closely with engineering and other cross-functional teams to deliver an exceptional developer experience which drives adoption of our tools.  

What You'll Do

  • Lead product strategy: Define and champion the vision, strategy, and roadmap for our APIs and SDKs, ensuring alignment with the overall company strategy. You will be responsible for commercializing these products.
  • Understand the customer: Conduct interviews with our customers and perform market / competitive analysis to deeply understand the needs of our API consumers.
  • Measure impact: Establish clear metrics to measure the performance of our APIs, tracking performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams: Work closely with engineering, design, product marketing, BI, and other teams to build professional-grade APIs and SDKs.

Skills and Knowledge You Should Possess

  • 5+ years of experience in product management, with a deep background on APIs and developer-facing products.
  • Clear understanding of API design principles, standards, and best practices. 
  • Proven track record of successfully launching, scaling, and maintaining APIs and SDKs.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Data-driven (not data-led) mindset.

Base Salary Range:

  • NYC Metro, Bay Area, Seattle, & Los Angeles:    $167,000 - $228,500
  • All other US cities outside above metro areas:   $150,300 - $205,650
