Blizzard Entertainment is seeking a Senior 3D Character Artist to join their team on an unannounced project. The role will be a 6 month contract with the possibility of extension. The Senior 3D Character Artist will be responsible for creating high-quality 3D characters for both core gameplay and meta. This includes crafting high-resolution 3D sculpts and final low-polygon models, as well as texturing game assets. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of PBR workflow, efficient UV layout, and topology. They will also be able to translate 2D concepts into fully realized 3D models and have a great eye for detail. The Senior 3D Character Artist will work closely with other artists and designers to ensure that the characters they create meet the high standards of Blizzard.
Must have:
  • Proficient in crafting high-quality 3D characters and props
  • Strong understanding of efficient UV layout, PBR pipeline, and topology
  • Strong understanding of how to translate 2D concepts into fully realized 3D models
  • Knowledge and Skills: Understanding of sculpting form, shape, structure, and silhouette
  • Great eye for light, shading, color, and detail in creating texture maps
  • Knowledgeable in the technical aspects of creating in-game characters
Good to have:
  • Experience working with outsourcing for 3D character art
  • Experience with rigging and skinning

As a Senior 3D Character Artist, you will be responsible for the creation of outstanding 3D characters for Blizzard’s next great game. You will have the opportunity to be a part of an art team that brings iconic characters to life for both core gameplay and meta.

You will partner with experienced visual development artists, technical artists, and animators to create extraordinary and unforgettable characters within our game's universe that will be experienced by players around the world. The role will be complex, creative, and engaging with loads of opportunities to hone your skills and try new things.

This opportunity is a 6 month contract with chance for extension.

Responsibilities

  • Create both high-resolution 3D sculpts and final low-polygon models, as well as texture game assets.
  • Infuse hand-crafted art techniques with PBR workflow to achieve our unique style.
  • Review and integrate assets into our game engine.
  • Provide feedback and iterate on game assets with artists and designers via prototyping and group critiques.

Minimum Requirements :

  • Proficient in crafting high-quality 3D characters and props, encompassing both organic and hard-surface modeling techniques.
  • Strong understanding of efficient UV layout, PBR pipeline, and topology.
  • Strong understanding of how to translate 2D concepts into fully realized 3D models, making artistic decisions throughout the process to refine and enhance the final design.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Understanding of sculpting form, shape, structure, and silhouette.
  • Great eye for light, shading, color, and detail in creating texture maps.
  • Knowledgeable in the technical aspects of creating in-game characters, covering the full end-to-end pipeline, and adept at implementing art into a game efficiently, with a focus on clean, structured, and optimized processes.
  • In-depth knowledge of industry-standard software for the creation of 3D art and any industry-relevant game engine.
