We are seeking a Senior 3D Gameplay Character Animator to join our team in developing a large-scale open-world MMORPG for PC and consoles. GS STUDIO is a European game development studio with a history of creating diverse games and applications since 2011. As a Senior Animator, you will create strong, clear 3D character gameplay animations using Maya, integrating and verifying them within Unreal Engine. Your work will involve stylized realistic keyframe animation for bipedal, quadruped, custom, creature, and imaginative characters. You will collaborate with the Lead Animator, resolve technical and artistic animation issues, participate in playtests, and proactively learn new methods. The role requires a proactive, self-motivated individual with an interest in experimentation and a deep understanding of character performance, form, gesture, and silhouette, along with anatomy and caricature. You'll be responsible for updating animation sequences with relative animation tags in Unreal Engine.
Must have:
  • Expert proficiency in Maya animation
  • Proficient with HIK HumanIK system and custom rigs
  • Outstanding demo reel with character/creature/gameplay systems
  • 6+ years of game animation experience
  • At least one shipped game
  • Experience with Unreal Engine or comparable engine
  • Understanding of character skin and HIK Maya Rig
  • Familiarity with Jira Time tracking & Animation Tracker (Excel)
  • Ability to meet project timelines
  • Understanding of character performance, form, gesture, silhouette
  • Understanding of anatomy and caricature
  • Experience with Character state networks / Blendtrees / montages

Requirements

  • Expert level proficiency in Maya animation package.
  • Proficient with HIK HumanIK system and custom rigs.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Art/Animation or equivalent experience.
  • Outstanding demo reel demonstrating experience working with character/creature/gameplay systems.
  • 6+ years of experience animating video games.
  • At least one shipped game.
  • Experience working within Unreal Engine or a Comparable engine.
  • An Understanding of creating Character Skin, HIK Maya Rig.
  • Jira Time tracking & Animation Tracker (Excel) of all tasks throughout the animation pipeline.
  • Meet project timelines and production schedules.
  • Understanding of character performance, form, gesture, and silhouette in regard to player character.
  • Understanding of anatomy and caricature.
  • Experience and understanding of Character state networks / Blendtree’s and montages

Responsibilities

  • Create strong / Clear 3d Character Gameplay animations with instruction and feedback from the Lead Animator.
  • Heavily stylised realistic Keyframe animation
  • Animations will require Bipedal / Quadruped / Custom / Creature / Imagination.
  • Integrate and verify your own Animations via (Unreal Engine).
  • Identify and help resolve technical and artistic issues related to animation.
  • Be involved in regular group playtests.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with an interest to experiment and learn new methods/practices.
  • Updating Animation Sequences with Relative Animation Tags (Unreal).
