We are looking for a Senior Class Designer to create fun, balanced action RPG classes . The ideal candidate has a deep knowledge of Diablo games and other a ction RPGs , a longstanding passion for playing video games, and experience in the games industry.

This role is anticipated to be either an on-site or hybrid position. The potential home studio locations for this role are Albany, NY, or Irvine, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Create, implement, and tune character classes, abilities, and gear to ensure they are fun, balanced, and engaging.
  • Work closely with designers, programmers, and artists to integrate classes and features seamlessly into the game.
  • Thoroughly test your work to identify and fix bugs, balance issues, and other problems.
  • Find innovative solutions to design challenges, ensuring the game remains fun and accessible.
  • Analyze player behavior and feedback to make informed decisions about class design and balance.
  • Clearly document design decisions and communicate them effectively to the rest of the team.
  • Utilize tools like Excel for data analysis and balancing, and possibly scripting languages for implementing and testing features.
  • Champion design values and significant projects, programs, and business initiatives.

Minimum Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience as a designer in the game industry.
  • Strong technical background and foundation in in-game balance.
  • Strong a nalytical skills for evaluating systems and interpreting player behavior .
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills .
  • Strong sense of what makes a fun and compelling experience for classes and systems .
  • Previous involvement in action RPG titles.
  • Familiarity with scripting languages and a strong foundation in math.

Extra Points

  • Creative writing skills for the wording of abilities, items, features, and tooltips .
  • Exposure to live-service game development and post-launch content updates.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $80,800.00 - $149,400.00 Annual. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed. While we strive to provide competitive offers to successful candidates, new hire compensation is negotiable.
