Job Description

Epic Games seeks a Senior FX Artist to join its Fortnite ART and FX team in Shanghai, China. Responsibilities include executing outstanding game effects, creating all necessary visual effects art (from concept to final FX), and working with diverse styles (realistic to stylized). The ideal candidate will have a strong reel showcasing shipped game FX work across multiple titles, a keen eye for timing and motion, and proficiency in creating all art assets for FX. Additional skills in modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting are beneficial, as is experience with Unreal Engine's art pipeline, including scripting (Blueprint, Python). The role demands collaboration, a desire to push technical boundaries, and experience managing multi-platform memory limitations.

Must have:

Strong FX reel/portfolio with multiple shipped titles
Exceptional eye for timing, animation, and motion of FX
Ability to create all art assets for visual effects
Unreal Engine pipeline experience and scripting (Blueprint, Python)
Experience with multi-platform memory limitations

Good to have:

Skills in modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting
Desire to push effects and editing tools

What You'll Do

Epic Games is looking for a Senior FX Artist to join our Fortnite ART and FX team.

In this role, you will

Execute outstanding effects for our games by bringing dramatic effects to life
Ability to create all art needed for the visual effects, including FX concept, proto and final FX
Execute on a range of visual effects styles from realistic to stylized

What we're looking for

Must have a strong reel/portfolio showing executed game FX work and have shipped multiple titles within the game industry
You have a critical eye for the timing, animation, and motion of real world objects and visual FX with an ability to bring dramatic FX to life with flair
Ability to create all art needed for the FX
Abilities in secondary areas such as modeling, skinning, animation, or lighting
Desire and knowledge of how to push our effects and editing tools further
Desire to work with a team. Share knowledge and grow together
Strong willingness and desire to work collaboratively
Experience working with multiple platforms memory limitations
Familiarity with the Unreal Engine art pipeline including Scripting experience in Blueprint, Python, Etc
Strong desire to learn new techniques, and grow tools and pipeline
