Job Description

Tesla seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Athens, Greece to join a multidisciplinary team designing motors from concept to mass production. Responsibilities include designing stators, rotors, and assemblies using 3D CAD and 2D drawings; driving the selection and development of windings, magnets, electrical steel, shafts, interconnections, and thermal sensing; leading motor development from concept to high-volume production, including conceptual design, DFMEA, prototyping, sourcing, validation, PFMEA, quality control, and cost reduction; proposing and experimenting with new designs, technologies, and materials; and identifying and qualifying suppliers. The ideal candidate possesses proficiency in GD&T, 3D CAD, and 2D drawings (CATIA preferred), along with hands-on motor development experience from concept to production. Experience with DFMEA and PFMEA, FEA (structural and thermal), and automotive motor design are also highly desirable.

Must have:

Proficiency in GD&T, 3D CAD, 2D drawings
Hands-on motor development experience
DFMEA and PFMEA experience
FEA knowledge (structural and thermal)
Excellent communication skills

Good to have:

CATIA experience
NVH analysis experience
Electromagnetics design experience

What You’ll Do

Design stators, rotors, and assemblies: 3D CAD and 2D drawings.
Drive selection and development of:

Windings and electrical insulation
Magnets
Electrical steel
Shafts
Interconnections
Thermal Sensing

Lead the development of motors and their subcomponents from concept through to high volume production including:

Conceptual Design
DFMEA
Prototyping
Sourcing
Validation
PFMEA
Quality control
Cost reduction

Propose and experiment on new designs, technologies, and materials.
Identify and qualify suppliers of raw materials, components, and assemblies.

What You’ll Bring

Proficiency in Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing, 3D CAD, 2D drawings (CATIA is a plus).
Hands on experience in developing motors from concept to production.
Experience in DFMEA and PFMEA.
Evidence of exceptional ability.
Knowledge of structural and thermal FEA.
Automotive motor design expertise is considered a plus.
Bonus skills: Catia, NVH analysis, electromagnetics design, specification writing, plastic injection molding, bolted joint design.
Fluency in English.
Strong communication skills with the ability to discuss any issues with a wide variety of individuals and groups.
