Position Summary

The Shredder Operator / Material Handler position is responsible for the destruction and disposal of confidential product to the company.

Job Functions:

  • Sort recyclable materials throughout the building.
  • Collect and recycle press and packaging production waste.
  • Operate forklift and other related equipment.
  • Perform minor repairs to shredder room equipment as required.
  • Maintain the Recycling containers in a clean and safe manner.
  • Assist shredding department in the troubleshooting of equipment and procedural problems.
  • Assist maintenance department on an as needed basis.
  • Clean the outside of recycling containers and remove any unwanted items.
  • Supervise drop-off area and clean up as necessary.
  • Assist with the moving/relocation of office equipment, furniture and large items.
  • Assist contractors move around the building by providing escort.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Education:  Graduate of a certified High School program.
  • Minimum 5-plus years in a manufacturing environment                         

Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, to include after hours, Saturdays and/or Sundays as standard workweek
  • Ability to be on call, to come-in for emergencies

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk to hear.  The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms, stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend, use hands, operate a computer, and have specific vision abilities to include close and distance vision, and ability to adjust focus working with computer and business equipment.The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. If your position requires you to work in the field, production, and/or warehouse, it is mandatory that you use the approved Personal Protective Equipment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.  The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electrical shock and vibration.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
