Job Description

ByteDance is seeking Software Engineers with experience in machine learning infrastructure to join its team in Bellevue, WA. Responsibilities include designing and implementing global-scale machine learning (ML) systems, optimizing performance, and improving the usability and flexibility of the ML infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with Python, C++, PyTorch, TensorFlow, CUDA, and Linux development. They will also be comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Must have:
  • Coding using Python or C++
  • Optimizing, training, and deploying machine learning and deep learning models using PyTorch or TensorFlow
  • Developing code and identifying issues in Linux environment
  • Developing and deploying large-scale machine learning systems
  • Writing high throughput CUDA kernels for computer vision tasks
  • Testing and profiling Python deep learning library

Responsibilities Design and implement global-scale machine learning (ML) systems, including implementing code for high throughput image processing and video decoding. Reduce GPU memory usage and improve performance during training and inference. Improve use-ability and flexibility of the ML infrastructure. Improve the workflow of model training and serving, data pipelines, and resource management for the multitenancy ML systems. Optimize performance of ML system. Design and implement tools to analyze the ML model's performance.
Qualifications
Qualifications Must have a Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, and 1 year of related work experience; OR a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering (any), Information Technology, Machine Learning, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field, and 3 years of related work experience. Of the required experience, must have 1 year of experience in each of the following: Coding using Python or C++; Optimizing, training, and deploying machine learning and deep learning models using PyTorch or TensorFlow; Developing code and identifying issues in Linux environment; Developing and deploying large-scale machine learning systems; Writing high throughput CUDA kernels for computer vision tasks; and Testing and profiling Python deep learning library. 【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $137750 - $237500 annually.

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.

We cover 100% premium coverage for employee medical insurance, approximately 75% premium coverage for dependents and offer a Health Savings Account(HSA) with a company match. In addition to Flexible Spending Account(FSA) Options like Health Care, Limited Purpose and Dependent Care.

Our time off and leave plans are: 10 paid holidays per year plus 17 days of Paid Personal Time Off (PPTO) (prorated upon hire and increased by tenure) and 10 paid sick days per year as well as 12 weeks of paid Parental leave and 8 weeks of paid Supplemental Disability.
