As a Senior Full Stack Engineer at Wizards of the Coast, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining applications for the company's digital channels. You will work closely with UX designers, other engineers, architects, and product owners to deliver amazing application experiences. You will leverage your expertise in modern development methodologies and frameworks to contribute critical insights that shape the imaginative vision of the company's products. You will be responsible for auditing existing applications and proposing solutions for improving performance, scalability, security, and stability. You will also be responsible for delivering and accepting constructive critiques on technical designs, solutions, implementation plans, and code reviews throughout the development process.
Must have:
  • 5+ years full stack or backend experience
  • Proficient in AWS, containerization, CI/CD pipelines
  • REST/GraphQL APIs, data modeling, PostgreSQL
  • Test automation and unit testing
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • In-depth understanding of CS fundamentals, data structures, algorithms
Good to have:
  • Knowledge of WOTC games, especially Magic: The Gathering
  • Experience with logging and monitoring systems
  • Experience with microservices architecture, deployment, and development

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Engineer to join our Digital Innovations team and help bring our most beloved brands to digital channels. As a motivated member of the engineering community, you are charged with raising the bar for both internal and external development partners. You'll leverage your extensive experience in modern development methodologies and frameworks and contribute by providing critical insights that will define the imaginative vision of our products! This role will collaborate across the organization to craft, implement, and deliver amazing application experiences with excellence, on schedule and within budget.

What You'll Do:

  • Contribute, guide, direct, and facilitate development of applications
  • Develop and maintain long term cross-disciplinary relationships, consistently raising the quality bar for WOTC application titles.
  • Diplomatically collaborate with UX designers, other engineers, architects and product owners.
  • Identify current or potential technical issues and provide clear solutions.
  • Audit existing applications and bring forward solutions for improving performance, scalability, security, and stability.
  • Deliver and accept constructive critique on technical designs, solutions, implementation plans, and code reviews frequently throughout the development process.
  • Propose and execute engineering solutions for new features.
  • Compose thorough documentation and establish engineering standards.

What You'll Bring:

  • An established portfolio exhibiting a high standard of craft, demonstrating scalability, interoperability, performance, and stability.
  • 5+ years of industry experience as a full stack or backend engineer.
  • Demonstrated experience in solving sophisticated problems with simple solutions.
  • Proficiency in using AWS; containerization, GitLab/GitHub CI/CD, or other CI/CD pipelines.
  • Proficiency in developing REST and/or GraphQL APIs, data modeling, PostgreSQL
  • Experience in test automation and writing unit tests.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication, presentation, and teamwork skills.
  • A good communicator, standout colleague, and able to lead engineering discussions with technical and non-technical individuals.
  • In-depth understanding of CS fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms.

Nice To Have:

  • Good foundational knowledge of WOTC games, especially Magic: the Gathering
  • Prior experience with logging and monitoring systems
  • Familiarity with architecting, deploying and developing microservices

Compensation Range, Currency USD:

  • Starting Pay Range: $134,239
  • Pay Range End: $223,924
