Job Description

The Sr. Product Designer at Disney Experiences will design next-generation digital touchpoints for Disney Signature Experiences, primarily focusing on Disney Cruise Line. Responsibilities include design and user research, information architecture, UI/UX design, prototyping, presentations, on-site/onboard testing, A/B/n testing, interactive design enhancements, design workshops, and design QA. The role requires close collaboration with design leaders, product management, program management, and technology teams. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience, proficiency in Figma, and a strong understanding of design best practices. They will be responsible for creating original, useful, and elegant digital experiences for guests worldwide.

We are responsible for the end-to-end digital and physical Guest experience for all technology & digital-led initiatives across the Attractions & Entertainment, Food & Beverage, Resorts & Transportation and Merchandise lines of business as well as other initiatives including MyDisneyExperience and Hey, Disney! 

 

This role sits in the Product Design & Creative organization within Technology & Digital for Disney Experiences. It works closely with Technology and Product Management leaders and partners.   

 

The Sr. Product Designer will report to the Manager, Product Design. 

 

About The Role & Team: 

This key role is responsible for designing the next generation of digital touchpoints—including web and app experiences—for Disney Signature Experiences, with a primary focus on Disney Cruise Line. The role requires close collaboration with design leaders, peers, and cross-functional partners from Product Management, Program and Project Management, and Technology. 

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Design and user research 

  • Information architecture 

  • UI and UX design 

  • Prototyping 

  • Senior leadership presentations 

  • On-site and onboard testing 

  • A/B/n testing 

  • Interactive design enhancements 

  • Design workshops 

  • Design QA 

  • Partner management 

 

The Product Design and Creative team serves as a center of excellence for digital products, UX, and interaction design across Guest and Cast-facing digitally-led products within DX Technology and Digital. It brings together a wide range of world-class expertise, including UX design, user research, copywriting, content design, motion design, and photo and video asset creation. As a transversal team, it collaborates closely with product managers, technologists, engineers, and program and project managers to craft world-class digital experiences infused with Disney’s signature fun and magic. 

 

What You'll Do: 

  • Design original, useful and elegant digital experiences for guests of Disney Experiences worldwide 

  • Owns design explorations on their assigned projects, identifying user/business problems, ideation, testing, and the integration of solutions that improve the broader user experience 

  • Contribute to projects within assigned portfolio, flexing to work independently, partner with other designers and partners, and guiding design work of more junior team members 

  • Build strong relationships with team members, leaders, and cross functional partners to drive collaboration and innovation on projects 

  • Provide end to end documentation for projects within their line of business that are in line with our design system 

  • Partner with cross-functional teams – including other designers, product management, technology and consumer insights – to take work from ideation to reality 

  • Design product experiences across web, mobile web and native apps (iOS and Android), and emerging tech platforms. May perform user design research 

  • Apply rigorous design thinking best practices to develop products and experiences that meet at the crossroads of the physical and digital worlds 

  • You will be encouraged to stay up to date with design trends and emerging technologies 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Minimum 5 years of related work experience 

  • Comfortable working in an agile environment 

  • Experience as an end-to-end multidisciplinary product designer, with demonstrated capabilities across a range of design disciplines including testing  

  • Strong communication and presentation skills: ability to articulate questions, strategy, design decisions, and updates to leaders and project team members as needed; strong understanding of how their communication impacts the work and business  

  • Ability to build interactive prototypes  

  • Strong understanding of design best practices and ability to deliver design assets that meet project goals and enhance the user experience  

  • Proficient in Figma and a desire to develop further fuctional skills 

  • Portfolio required 

 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Deep understanding of digital product design and UX principles & methods, including user-centered design, information architecture, UI/UX/interaction design, usability testing, and user research methodologies.  

  • High proficiency in design and prototyping in Figma, with a good understanding of front-end technologies.  

  • Experience conducting user research, analyzing data, and leveraging insights to inform design decisions.  

  • Skilled in identifying user needs and translating them into intuitive, user-friendly designs while aligning with business objectives and driving segment growth.  

  • Good knowledge of human behavior and its impact on user interactions.  

  • Strong visual communication skills, including expertise in typography, color theory, and layout principles, with impeccable taste.  

  • Familiarity with the Disney brand, IPs, stories, and Disney Experience businesses.  

  • A well-curated portfolio showcasing skills, experience, and a diverse range of projects that highlight versatility and adaptability. 

 

Required Education: 

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience 

 

Preferred Education: 

  • Bachelor’s or Masters’s degree in Design, Interaction Design, UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Psychology.
