As a Staff Software Engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google Cloud's needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. You will anticipate our customer needs and be empowered to act like an owner, take action and innovate. We need our engineers to be versatile, display leadership qualities and be enthusiastic to take on new problems across the full-stack as we continue to push technology forward. Responsibilities include: Providing technical leadership on high-impact projects. Facilitating alignment and clarity across teams on goals, outcomes, and timelines. Designing, developing, testing, deploying, maintaining, and enhancing large-scale software solutions. Driving the technical vision and roadmap for Kubernetes evolution to meet the needs of the world's most demanding GenAI models training. Inspiring, mentoring, and supporting a talented team of engineers, fostering a culture of growth, knowledge sharing, and respect for individual strengths.
Must have:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience
  • 8 years of experience in software development
  • 5 years of experience testing, and launching software products
  • 3 years of experience with software design and architecture
  • Experiences with AI frameworks (e.g., Tensorflow, PyTorch, JAX), algorithms and tools(e.g., Kubeflow, Ray.io, MLflow)
Good to have:
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field
  • 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role leading project teams and setting technical direction
  • 3 years of experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects
  • MLOps experience with large-scale distributed environments
