OVERVIEW:
We are immediately seeking a Sustainability Engagement Manager in Stockholm to join our global Sustainability Engagement team.
ISS ESG provides a variety of stewardship and engagement solutions, including two Collaborative Engagement solutions, where ISS ESG facilitates dialogue with companies on behalf of investors: Norm-Based Engagement and Thematic Engagement.
These solutions support responsible investors in fulfilling their commitment to active ownership; to incorporating ESG principles into ownership policies and practices; to seeking disclosure on ESG issues from companies they invest in; and to reporting on activities and progress. The solutions also support clients’ efforts to meet expectations and responsibilities set out in Stewardship Codes.
The ideal candidate will have prior experience of engagement with companies and/or good understanding of international standards and guidelines, as recognized in the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) and Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises. They will have strong communication and analytical skills. They will also have strong organisational skills and will be able to review and prioritise effectively to deadlines, while maintaining a high level of quality. The successful candidate will be able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a global team based in London (UK), Mumbai (India), Paris (France) and Stockholm (Sweden).
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Undertake engagement dialogue with companies, through written correspondence and (virtual) meetings
Analyse and assess responses from companies, producing commentary, engagement metrics and quarterly and annual reports to investor clients
Coordinate engagement activities and key deliverables by established deadlines
Contribute to internal quality management processes
Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as Research and Methodology teams
Contribute to the coordination of responses to internal and external enquiries in a timely manner
Support the Sales and Client Success Teams with product presentations to prospects and clients
Monitor industry and market developments and initiatives to review alignment of product against market expectations
Contribute to the development of new engagement services and processes in close collaboration with colleagues across the globe
Collaborate with Marketing and Communications on the promotion of our engagement products and services
Contribute to the production of thought leadership pieces in the area of stewardship and engagement
QUALIFICATIONS:
5-15 years of relevant working experience
Excellent knowledge of ESG, sustainability and responsible investment
Previous experience in a stewardship/engagement related role would be a plus
An interest in corporate controversies concerning global norms on business malpractice, human rights, environmental protection, and/or labour standards
Excellent project management and administrative skills
Excellent communication skills: The individual must be able to engage professionally with companies, clients, colleagues and external stakeholders
Strong academic qualifications (Masters in relevant field, desirable but not required)
Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
Excellent language skills, both written and oral (Required fluency in English; fluency in another language is a plus)

Ability to work towards deadlines and under pressure
