Technical Artist

Intrepid Studios is looking for a Technical Artist who is adept in creating tools, scripts, and processes to support our art department in the development of our epic MMORPG Ashes of Creation. We are looking for a detail-oriented developer with hands-on Unreal experience and has the skills and passion to empower artists, animators and designers to prototype and finish AAA games.

Responsibilities:

• Development of tools and scripts that enhance and streamline the content creation processes.
• Work as the bridge between engineering and art to optimize content.
• Use Blueprints to R&D new ideas, process, and tools.
• Work with production in planning to define and address technical design requirements and issues
• Review technology deficiencies for art teams
• Collaborate with team members to support large features such as our dynamic skys, oceans, and other internal systems.
• Support procedural content generation.

• 2+ years of experience as a Technical Artist using the Unreal engine.
• Understanding of techniques and technologies relating to memory and performance optimizatons.
• Experience building tools to support Art teams.
• Blueprint scripting experience
• Ability to analyze artists’ needs and effectively develop tools to address them
• Strong communication, collaboration and interpersonal skills

• PCG procedural content creation and support
• Python, VEX, HLSL
• Experience with Houdini
• Experience with HLODS
• Unreal C++ experience

The Legal Bits:
We offer competitive pay based on market standards plus a significant annual bonus structure. The base salary for this role is between $66,000 - $99,000, depending on skills and experience. Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including experience level, skillset, and balancing internal equity relative to peers at the company. We expect the majority of the candidates who are offered roles at our company to fall throughout the range based on these factors.
