As Version 1 grows, the size of the transformation projects that we take on are scaling and the levels of technical leadership required to deliver Excellence is increasing.  We are seeking an experienced Technology Principal to join our Digital, Data and Cloud Capability and work alongside other likeminded technology consultants.  

You’ll have previously led scaled technical deliveries within large Central UK Government departments, have working relationships with senior civil servants, and have a strong mix of delivery, business development and strategy. Understanding the customers’ needs aligned to the GOV.UK Service Standard, being accountable for successful technical delivery, establishing technical direction, delivering technical excellence, and driving innovation, are all key aspects of the role. With no day the same, you’ll have a wide range of work, with a strategic focus and hands-on problem solving with teams when required.  

You will need to be eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) and willing to undergo security checks, be a UK National based in the UK and have willingness to travel within the UK to Version 1 and UK Government client sites, specifically London and other large department hubs. 

• Proven breadth of experience and accountability across various types of technology used within large and high profile Public Sector deliveries including application modernisation, digital transformation, and product development. 
• Deep understanding of how to deliver high quality, reliable, scalable, secure, and observable software solutions, encompassing agile methodologies, proven design patterns, DevSecOps tooling and continuous delivery, test automation and monitoring. 
• Practical engineering background - you can lead development teams, resolve technical issues, and prioritise non-functional requirements to ensure a successful technical delivery. 
• Able to establish excellence in technical delivery, identify and mitigate risks early-on and recover challenged technical deliveries. 
• Commercial and business awareness to drive business growth across an account, via pre-sales activities such as preparing and delivering presentations, bid responses, writing technical and commercial documents and assist in project forecasting, planning, estimation, and delivery.
