AVER is seeking Ten Print Examiner Intern focused on critical mission support biometric services within Department of Homeland Security. This group delivers and manages all deployed identity services and ensures sustainment of automated capabilities. Participate in a six-month internship program and training platform. This Internship will be comprised of two 10 - hour days starting at 6 am and ending at 4:30pm. This position is Tues (admin tasks) and Wed (queue work). The goal of the internship is to offer Interns exposure to fingerprint comparison methods and techniques with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). The 1st, 10-hours per week, perform administrative tasks to assist in the completion of daily, weekly, and monthly statistical reports: review, create electronic file jackets and log incoming casework. Conduct inventory assessments, disseminate reports, pull federal agency prints utilizing ULW, review and disseminate Lead Track reports, and create ten print cards from the customer’s repository. The 2nd, 10-hours per week, Interns will be trained in proper methods of conducting fingerprint comparisons following the ACE-V methodology and how to complete a fingerprint transaction review and correction (queue work). Upon successful completion of the training program, Interns will be able to work independently providing the services listed above with accuracy. *This is a paid internship.*
Responsibilities Include:
- Assist management team and examiners with administrative tasks while receiving hands on training focusing on fingerprint analysis, quality analysis, and proper fingerprint sequencing through AFIS
- Participate in training to exhibit proficiency in administrative tasks and conducting fingerprint comparisons
- Upon completion of the training period, intern will be required to successfully test out of the training program and moved to independent work
- The intern will be required to maintain high level of professionalism, proficiency, and accuracy during this time and throughout the completion of their program
- Currently enrolled and attending Senior year of University/College OR recently graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Forensic Science, Criminal Justice, or a similar/ related field
- Coursework in Latent Examination is required to join the Latent Examination Internship program and subsequently the Latent Examiner team with DHS
- Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
- Internet Browser (Google, Google Chrome, Internet Explorer
- HYBRID (On Site 2 days a week in San Diego, CA)
- Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance (Public Trust)
- This role supports a government agency which requires U.S. citizenship
