Job Description

Google is seeking a Test Engineering Manager II to join their Google Cloud team in Sunnyvale, CA. This role involves leading a team of engineers, developing and aligning testing roadmaps and strategies, ensuring infrastructure components meet security and compliance requirements, and collaborating with engineering teams to improve testing practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, test automation, and technical leadership, with experience in infrastructure, Kubernetes, and container technologies. Responsibilities include creating testing roadmaps and strategies, ensuring infrastructure security and compliance, partnering with engineering teams to implement testing best practices, collaborating with engineering productivity and lab teams, and providing feedback for improvement in infrastructure, tooling, processes, and resource allocation.

Must have:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
8 years of experience building developer tools
5 years of experience with software development
5 years of experience in technical leadership
5 years of experience in people management

Good to have:

Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field
Experience in infrastructure with broad knowledge across compute, storage and networking
Experience with Kubernetes and container technologies
Expertise on the networking and lower level of software stacks (Kernel)

Minimum qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
8 years of experience building developer tools that improve developer velocity, code quality and code health (e.g., compilers, automated releases, code design and testing, test automation frameworks).
5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
5 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 5 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
Experience in infrastructure with broad knowledge across compute, storage and networking.
Experience with Kubernetes and container technologies.
Expertise on the networking and lower level of software stacks (Kernel).

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $165,000-$248,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. Responsibilities

Create and align testing roadmaps and strategies with stakeholders.
Ensure infrastructure components meet security and compliance requirements.
Partner with engineering teams to shift testing left and maintain a healthy tip-of-tree.
Collaborate with Engineering Productivity and lab teams to provide the testing framework, tooling, and infrastructure needed for engineering excellence.
Create a feedback loop to identify and propose improvements in infrastructure, tooling, process, and the resource allocation.
