About the Role: 

3SL is seeking a full-time Asset Artist to create 3D assets and environments for the company’s proprietary VR technology. In this highly collaborative role, you'll work closely with our engineering team along with designers, artists, and other contractors creating sophisticated, performant 3D assets for client design vis work that leverages our in-house rendering technology. Candidates should have experience with 3D modeling for real-time/game applications, as well as a background in architectural visualization. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, curious, and enthusiastic.

Candidates should have excellent artistic and technical capabilities, including a thorough knowledge of 3D modeling, PBR shading, light baking, and multi-resolution workflows. The ability to maintain visual standards between projects is essential. We are a fully remote team, and great project management, communication, and documentation skills are must-haves.

Responsibilities:

  • Model, texture, and optimize realistic 3D assets for real-time rendering using client design documents, spec sheets, and high-resolution models as reference.
  • Assemble and stage fully realized scenes in Unity that adhere to engine constraints.
  • Set up and bake lighting in Unity for export to our VR platform.
  • Provide accurate time estimates for tasks.
  • Collaborate with the development and creative teams to solve problems and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain and organize files according to pipeline standards.

Top Priority Attributes:

  • 2-5 years of relevant experience.
  • A good eye for lighting and design.
  • High attention to detail.
  • A demonstrated proficiency (via online portfolio) in 3D modeling of real-world environments for real-time applications (candidates with architectural vis and/or simulation portfolios preferred). Our preferred modeling platform is Blender.
  • At least one shipped VR, AR, or simulation project.
  • A solid understanding of the technical foundations of 3D modeling for real time. (e.g. controlling triangle counts and texture memory, baking shaders to textures, managing UV sets, etc.)
  • Proficient communicator in written and spoken English.
  • Responsive to feedback in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Available for meetings during mid-day US Eastern Time (UTC -4/5).

Other Desired Skills/Experience:

  • Proficiency in supporting technologies such as Adobe Substance, plant generation software, nVidia Omniverse, etc.
  • Able to read and understand architectural drawings.
  • Experience with lightmapping workflows in Unity.

  • Our estimated base salary range for this position is $90,000-$120,000. The actual base salary for any offer will vary based on individual qualifications and market factors. The listed range above is a guideline, and the base salary for this role may be modified. In addition to salary, your compensation will include an equity package, reimbursement for health insurance costs, paid vacation time and sick leave, and retirement (401(k)) benefits.
