Activision Blizzard is looking for talented and innovative students to join our team for the 2025 summer internship program. All interns will receive a meaningful project and an unparalleled experience. You'll work with experienced mentors to develop your skills and collaborate with some of the best in the gaming industry. This internship offers the opportunity to contribute directly to the team and impact the projects you work on. You'll also participate in exclusive learning and development programs, as well as social events, both virtual and in-person. The internship is conducted in-person, with relocation services and a living stipend provided. Choose from two roles: Cinematic Animator or Gameplay Animator. Each role offers unique learning opportunities and challenges within the gaming industry.
Must have:
  • Pursuing an associates, bachelors, masters, or PhD degree
  • Graduation date between April 2025 – July 2026
  • Available for 12-week internship starting in late-May or mid-June
  • Residing in the US or open to relocating to the US
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills
  • Proficient in a 3D software package like Maya or Max
  • Strong key-frame animation skills
  • Portfolio reflecting strong hand-keyed animations

Animation Internship 

Player Profile  

  • Pursuing an associates, bachelors, masters, or PhD and graduating April 2025 – July 2026  

  • Available to participate in a 12-week internship starting in late-May or mid-June 

  • Currently residing in the US or open to relocating oneself to the US 

  • Exhibits learning agility; has the ability to think differently, and/or grasp and apply new skills and concepts 

  • Approaches problems in a clear, well-organized, and solutions-oriented manner 

  • Works well with others and contributes to team tasks 

  • Able to effectively communicate problems, solutions, needs, or priorities 

  • Is engaged, seeks to learn, and is able to manage time effectively

  • Portfolios should reflect strong hand-keyed animations for characters and objects 

Internship Opportunities 

All internships will be conducted in-person. Hosting managers will determine when and how often interns work in the office Monday-Friday (relocation services and living stipend provided to all interns) 

Potential internship location(s):  Los Angeles, CA; Novato, CA; Foster City, CA; Carlsbad, CA; Middleton, WI; Austin, TX

Cinematic Animator: Provide a solid foundation and understanding of weight and timing to help bring characters to life in a games environment. Using 3D software you will be learning the pipeline, process’s and workflows around what it takes to bring a cinematic together from start to finish. 

  • Demonstrate strong key-frame animation skills.   

  • Proficient in a 3D software package like Maya or Max  

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills. 

Gameplay Animator: Bring our game to life! You will work with a mentor to create exceptional key-frame animations for characters, environments, and objects. You’ll have opportunities to work with amazing character artists, riggers, and designers to take your animation from Maya to game. 

  • Proficient in Autodesk Maya…But a strong desire to learn beyond Maya. 

  • Exceptional communications skills.

In the U.S., the standard base pay range for this role is $20.00 - $50.00 Hourly. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location. Your Talent Professional can share this role’s range details for your local geography during the hiring process. In addition to a competitive base pay, employees in this role may be eligible for incentive compensation. Incentive compensation is not guaranteed.
