Job Description

The Business Development Intern will support the Business Development Manager by conducting market research, analyzing customer and competitive data, and entering data into databases. The role involves analyzing on-road and off-road equipment data, estimating aftermarket product opportunities, and presenting findings. The intern will also support market competitive analysis, monitor product introductions, and assist with new product introduction projects and long-range planning initiatives. They will need to have strong communication skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office, and data analysis tools. This internship offers a chance to gain practical experience and contribute to the company's growth in the aftermarket sector. The intern will work closely with the team to support projects, reports, and tasks related to business development.

Job purpose

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team as a Summer Business Development Intern at our Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy, MI.

This person will report to our Business Development Manager and will primarily be responsible for global/regional market research, customer and competitive analysis, and database entry.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assists team with analysis of On-road and Off-road equipment population data, estimation of aftermarket product opportunities using replacement rates and presentation to leadership

  • Compile and maintains market data to develop internal projections and forecasts

  • Supports market competitive analysis for coverage/gaps, pricing/promotions activities

  • Monitors On-road and Off-road medium/heavy duty aftermarket product introductions

  • Supports Troy Remanufacturing plants new product introduction projects and Long-Range Planning (LRP) initiatives as needed

  • Assists Business development team with specific projects, reports, and tasks

What we’re looking for

  • Pursuing bachelor’s degree in business or engineering related fields

  • Excellent communication skills and interest in medium/heavy duty aftermarket and remanufacturing is a plus

  • Strong work ethic, willingness to learn and a go-getter attitude

  • Recent experience in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is a must

  • Ability to analyze large data sets and form conclusions is key

  • Recent experience in data visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik, Power BI or equivalent is preferred

  • Self-starter that is open to feedback and can identify and implement practical solutions
