About the Position:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lawyer to join our legal team in Ukraine. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing legal support and guidance on competition law matters, legal advice on the State aid and public procurements. As a Competition Lawyer, you will work closely with internal stakeholders and external partners to ensure adherence to applicable laws, regulations, and best practices in Ukraine and abroad.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide legal advice and support to private and public sector clients on all aspects of the competition law, assist in the matters related to the State aid and participation in public procurements (clarifications related to tender documentation, bidding process, contractual relations).

  • Review and draft documents related to obtaining of the State aid, assess permissibility, claim against unfair State aid.

  • Support clients in public procurements, including review or drafting of tender documentation, invitations to bid, contracts and subcontract agreements, to ensure compliance with legal requirements and relevant compliance requirements.

  • Advise on the interpretation and application of relevant laws, regulations, and international standards, including international agreements and EU accession commitments of Ukraine. Assistance in development of compliance programmes.

  • Assist in the resolution of related disputes and claims, including development of legal position, elaboration of tactics for challenges, communicate with clients, draft or review required documentation, apply to relevant authorities, including Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, with claims.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional client teams, including legal, procurement, finance, operations, and compliance, to develop and implement policies, procedures, and best practices.

  • Stay abreast of latest legislative developments and practice, monitoring regulatory changes and providing training and updates to relevant stakeholders as needed.

  • Represent the organization in negotiations with suppliers, contractors, and government agencies, ensuring that contractual terms and conditions are fair, reasonable, and in the organization’s best interests.

  • Ability to support the implementation of technology solutions and tools, facilitating efficiency, transparency, and accountability in relevant processes is an additional asset.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree from an accredited law school; Ukrainian attorney at law certificate.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on competition law, State aid and/or public procurements.

  • Strong knowledge of Ukrainian laws and regulations, as well as relevant international standards and best practices.

  • Experience in advising clients on competition related matters, including drafting of advice, documentation, as well as related claims.

  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to review and negotiate complex contracts and deals.

  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills, capable of assessing legal risks and developing practical solutions.

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

  • Commitment to professionalism, integrity, and ethical conduct in the practice of law, with a focus on achieving positive outcomes while mitigating legal risk.

  • Fluency in Ukrainian and proficiency in English, both written and spoken.
