The Data Architect will lead the design and implementation of a scalable enterprise data ecosystem for a high-profile client in the sports and media sector. This role involves building and optimizing modern data infrastructure to support advanced analytics, performance insights, fan engagement, and real-time business intelligence. The architect will define data architecture strategy, design data models, integrate data sources, enforce data governance, collaborate with teams, architect cloud-native data infrastructure, and implement real-time streaming capabilities. This role is at the intersection of data architecture and innovation, helping shape next-generation data capabilities. This is a contract role with a hybrid schedule involving 4 days a week onsite.
Must have:
  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture or related roles
  • Deep understanding of scalable data system design
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
  • Strong grasp of real-time processing tools and frameworks
  • Expert-level SQL skills and working knowledge of NoSQL systems
  • Experience working with BI tools
  • Familiarity with data compliance regulations and secure architecture
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Good to have:
  • Experience working in sports, media, or live events industries
  • Familiarity with IoT data pipelines
  • Experience implementing data mesh or data fabric architecture patterns
  • Exposure to graph databases or vector search
  • Understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools
  • Knowledge of data cataloging and lineage tools
  • Background in supporting machine learning workflows and MLOps pipelines
  • Prior experience working with streaming video analytics or time-series data

The Role: 

We are seeking a Data Architect to lead the design and implementation of a scalable enterprise data ecosystem for one of our high-profile clients in the sports and media sector. This role involves building and optimizing modern data infrastructure to support advanced analytics, performance insights, fan engagement, and real-time business intelligence. You will work at the intersection of data architecture and innovation, helping shape next-generation data capabilities.

 What you will do:  

  • Define and lead the client’s data architecture strategy to ensure alignment with business objectives and long-term scalability
  • Design comprehensive data models to support operational, analytical, and predictive use cases
  • Integrate complex data sources, including IoT sensors, CRM systems, event platforms, and real-time data feeds
  • Establish and enforce data governance best practices, including privacy, security, and quality standards (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
  • Collaborate with engineering, analytics, and business teams to ensure access to clean, reliable, and actionable data
  • Architect and optimize cloud-native data infrastructure, including lakes, warehouses, and pipelines on AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Implement real-time streaming and processing capabilities to power live insights and dynamic user experiences
  • Continuously evaluate new technologies and approaches to keep the client at the forefront of data-driven transformation

Required Skills: 

  • 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or related roles
  • Deep understanding of scalable data system design including data lakes, warehouses, and ELT/ETL pipelines
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Strong grasp of real-time processing tools and frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Spark Streaming, Kinesis)
  • Expert-level SQL skills and working knowledge of NoSQL systems
  • Experience working with BI tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Looker
  • Familiarity with data compliance regulations and secure architecture principles
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills

Nice to have Skills:  

  • Experience working in fast-paced industries such as sports, media, or live events
  • Familiarity with IoT data pipelines, including ingesting and processing data from sensors or wearables
  • Experience implementing data mesh or data fabric architecture patterns
  • Exposure to graph databases or vector search (e.g., Neo4j, pgvector, Pinecone)
  • Understanding of infrastructure-as-code tools like Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Knowledge of data cataloging and lineage tools (e.g., AWS Glue Data Catalog, Alation, Collibra)
  • Background in supporting machine learning workflows and MLOps pipelines
  • Prior experience working with streaming video analytics or time-series data

Education & Certifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field
  • Relevant cloud/data certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Data Analytics – Specialty) are a plus
