Location: Gibraltar - Hybrid

As our new data engineer, you will be involved in the design, development and maintenance of real-time data streaming and batch data integrations for regulatory operational reporting, which are developed in our AWS and GCP environments. This is a challenging role with huge growth potential as you will be helping to build the backbone where all our regulatory reporting data will flow through.

Responsibilities:

You will be a part of the team responsible for the maintenance and further development of the existing company data warehouse system in a cloud environment (GCP / Big Query), which acts as a single point of truth for making data-driven business decisions. This position is ideal for someone who would like to improve their skill in data warehousing, reporting and GCP cloud services.

The candidate will be responsible for the operational aspect of the data warehouse environment, maintenance and support of the existing data warehouse load processes, ensuring that the environment of the data warehouse is healthy. Additionally, you will be involved in the data warehouse support process responding to business requests for ad-hoc reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Data loading processes with large and complex data sets, making sure the solution is maintainable, built with reusable components and with optimal performance
• Reporting layer data sources used by BI reports for data delivery to business
• Data/reports delivery automation
• Integrating and data loading processes from/to various upstream and downstream systems
• Focusing on data quality assurance, verification of accuracy and consistency of data
• Maintaining and supporting data load processes ensuring the loads are stable and the data is delivered to the business in the stipulated time
• Maintaining clear communication with businesses about data load failures, inconsistent data and successful loads to the respective distribution groups
• Troubleshooting and resolving issues with the data warehouse and external data feeds
• Supporting and assisting business users in ad hoc data extraction data analysis requests
• Maintaining transparent communication within the team and other technical and business departments within the company
• Participating in daily and weekly team meetings
• Participating in brainstorming meetings to discuss existing issues and new ideas
• Developing the further current skill set both from a technological and soft skills perspective

About you:

• 2-3 years of Data Warehouse and reporting-focused work experience
• Proficiency in data warehousing and ETL/ELT development is required
• Skilled in SQL query writing and optimization
• Experience with GCP/AWS cloud platform services will be considered an asset
• Competence in troubleshooting problems related to databases, software applications, and servers
• Adept at business analysis and requirements gathering from business users
• Keen attention to detail and data quality
• Knowledge and understanding of data warehouse concepts (such as Kimball or Inmon methodologies)
• Ability to obtain, analyse and synthesize information from multiple sources
• Strong problem-solving skills
• Hold an academic degree in a quantitative discipline such as statistics, computer science or mathematics will be considered an asset
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment whilst interacting with a variety of different disciplines
• Ability to prioritise and deal with problems systematically and provide clear communications regarding the issues, resolution times and solutions
• Fluent in English

And then some nice to haves:

• Experience with scripting and programming languages like python would be considered an asset
• Work experience on supporting a data warehouse system would be considered an asset
• Experience within the iGaming industry would be considered an asset
