This internship offers a full-time, six-month opportunity (June 2025 - January 2026) within Disney Consumer Products' Marvel design team in Glendale, CA. Responsibilities include market trend research, brainstorming toy concepts, developing inspiration boards for licensees, participating in product reviews, sketching toy ideas, and assisting with the product development process from concept to production. Collaboration with various departments (Commercialization, Legal, Brand Integrity, etc.) is involved. The intern will contribute to line reviews, meetings, sample reviews, and final production approvals across a range of hardline product categories. The ideal candidate possesses strong design skills, a passion for Marvel and Disney brands, and excellent communication and organizational abilities.

Seeking an Intern to work with the Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century design team to assist on a variety of toy, collectible, and souvenir projects! The intern would help identify toy trends, brainstorm new concepts, develop inspiration boards to share with licensees, assist with preliminary product reviews, and sketch toy ideas. They will assist the Design team throughout developing a broad range of hardline product categories, including line reviews, weekly production meetings, sample reviews, and final production approvals.

Over the course of the internship, the Intern will be exposed to the daily responsibilities of the Disney Consumer Products Design team. They will learn about the product development process while working with licensees, from concept through production. The Intern will work closely with Design but also with other departments– Commercialization, Legal, Brand Integrity, Franchise, Studio, and Brand Assurance.

The candidate should be studying in the field of product design with solid concepts, storytelling, and sketching skills. The Intern will meet regularly with the manager and be able to work independently on assignments, manage projects, and meet deliverables. They should have excellent organizational skills, communication skills, and interpersonal skills.

The Intern will report to the Product Design Manager, Hardlines Marvel based in Glendale, CA.

This internship is a full-time, six-month commitment in the Glendale, California area from June 2025 to January 2026.

What You Will Do

  • Research current market trends and competitor products to stay updated on industry developments
  • Monitoring product innovation and market dynamics
  • Assist the design team in brainstorming and conceptualizing new toy/collectible ideas
  • Build product concept decks and participate in design reviews by providing input to improve product concepts
  • Create sketches, drawings, and prototypes to bring product concepts to life
  • Assistant the Design team throughout the development cycle which will include line reviews, licensee meetings, sample reviews, and executive share-outs

Please Apply If You Are

  • Solid knowledge of toy categories, particularly figures, playsets, vehicles
  • Understanding of manufacturing (raw materials, plastic molding, textiles, deco applications, label art)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong product design skills (e.g. technical design, sketching, creative application)
  • Proficiency in design software solutions (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, 3D CAD tools are a plus)
  • Passion for Disney brands with a love for Marvel, Star Wars, and 20th Century Properties
  • Enthusiasm for product design and a passion for sparking our guests’ imaginations
  • Exhibits ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness
  • Ability to take constructive feedback and iterate on designs

It Would Also Be Great If You Have/are Familiar With

  • Graphics background

Education

  • Currently a Senior student pursuing a degree in Toy Design, Industrial Design, or a related design field

Eligibility Requirements & Program Information

Candidates for this opportunity MUST meet all of the below requirements:

  • Be enrolled in an accredited college/university pursuing a degree taking at least one class at the time of application OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Internship.
  • Current Disney Interns, College, International, or Culinary Program Participants: You may only work for ONE consecutive year (12 months) in any combination of an internship and/or program.
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Possess unrestricted work authorization.

Additional Information

  • This internship is a full-time, six-month commitment in the Glendale, California area from June 2025 until January 2026.
  • Able to have a consistent, reliable work schedule throughout the internship.
  • Fully available Monday through Friday for the duration of the internship, 40 hours each week.
  • Able to provide own housing for the duration of the internship program.
  • Able to provide/have reliable transportation to/from work.
  • Be compliant with appearance guidelines.

The pay rate for this role in California is $22.00 per hour.
